I would very much like to see an option to disable the splash screen altogether. It could be made available only available after VDS is registered so it will always show the splash screen in demo mode. _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"

Very much
And if advertisement is *so much* a concern then the option can be left undocumented to even registered users. This will make only those who are really disturbed by it (frequent users) seek help to get rid of it.
I prolly should not tell this but have developed a degree of aversion towards VDS IDE due to the splash screen _________________ Regards

Even though I made that graphic for the splash, I too would very much
like to be able to disable it.
I've always hated programs that force the splash screen on you like
this. I've grown to hate splash screens so much that I do not even
make them for my own programs anymore.

You are not the only one. That's why I added an option to disable it with a "-n" on the command line in the (still unreleased) update. _________________ The Tech Pro

Hmmm, dunno bout that. I would have preferred an actual check box in the program options so that
it would work also when opening .dsc/.dsp files directly. Now you have to edit Registry, shortcuts etc. to
do it...

i agree with both of you - the "-n" option works well but i too would have prefered a checkbox under settings or something like that

Thanks Jules Works well.
I am no exception to like to have a checkbox like thing ... but IMHO CR may not like to allow such a thing to be implemented as every user would prolly go to disable that. I wish to be proven wrong though.. _________________ Regards

Hi All,
To get VDS to do this even when you just double click a *.dsc or *.dsp file you will need to modify the Registry entrys for *.dsc and *.dsp files...
For the *.dsc file look at this registry key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VDS.Script.5\shell\Open\command
change the (default) key from
C:\Program Files\Visual DialogScript 5\vds.exe
to
"C:\Program Files\Visual DialogScript 5\vds.exe" "-n"
Do the same for *.dsp file types in this registry key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VDS.Project.5\shell\Open\command
change the (default) key from
C:\Program Files\Visual DialogScript 5\vds.exe
to
"C:\Program Files\Visual DialogScript 5\vds.exe" "-n"
As always make a backup of your registry before you make any changes.
After this change when ever you double click on a *.dsc or *.dsp file the splash screen will not show. Also make sure you include the quotes so that Windows will not mistake the spaces for a parameter. _________________ Home of

Thanks for the tip's.
I would leave it like it is, and would give this only to registed users. For me the "-n" is fine.
And I realy have the feeling that's mutsh faster ob startup.
Thx again... _________________ ___________________
