Confused Hi folks!
I try to use the (free version of) Tommy's VDSINET.DLL to up-/download some text files to my site via FTP.
Unfortunately, DOS/UNIX conversion of the TEXT type files (LF/CR-LF) does not work for me; in worst case, a file downloaded with VDSINET.DLL and edited/saved via LIST commands ends up with CR|CR|LF.

Does anybody have an idea how I can check for DOS/UNIX style text files from within VDS and convert to UNIX (as a TEMP file) before upload and back to DOS after download?
The problem is that this has to be done in a binary search because inside LIST you never see the trailing CR's or LF's! I tried to find a solution with VDSBIN.DLL, but either I'm to stupid to understand the doc or it's not possible with it...

TIA!
Dieter "Belushi" Rausch
PS: I'm using VDS 3.5!

Hi!

You could consider using an external converter (try this: http://www.thefreecountry.com/tofrodos/)
to convert your text files before an upload or after a download

Hi Dieter,

Currently I don't know a solution if using the VDSINET DLL. It's supposed to have a binary/ascii switch but that was never implemented. For now I can highly recommend trying the VDSIPP DLL of PGWARE which is freeware and open source.

Very Happy Hi, Tommy!
It looks like that the tranfer mode (binary/ascii) was exactly what caused the problem: Forcing ASCII-transfer mode using the vdsipp.dll seems to work fine.

THX!

Hi, "doc" Smile

If any possible I try to do anything from within VDS; using an external program would have really been the last resort. Fortunately, Tommy told me about the vdsipp.dll, and that seems to do the job.

Thanks
Dieter
