From this point on I will no longer develop any VDS dll's, nor will I provide any updates or support for shareware dll's currently available.
The reason being there have been recent keygen's, cracks and decompilers released for VDS and extensions (mine being among them) and the lack of sales. I simply no longer have the time to rewrite dll's and/or support these dll's at such a small # of sales, and these keygens only add to that bitterness.
I've tried selling the dll's at very low prices - $25, now at high prices and the bottom line is there are hardly any sales. Now there are keygens and it's unlikely the situation with sales will help.
Sorry folks but there comes a time when the cost to develop these dll's is more then what it is worth.
For those that have already purchased, the support will still be provided up to 3 months as of today's date. Any support after that is completely optional and may or may not be provided. |

That's too bad. Will they still be available for purchase in the future?
Right now I don't have extra money enough to buy the ones I want (like
VDSPOPUP, etc.) but I was planning to in the next few months. _________________ FreezingFire

| No decision has been made on whether I will remove the dll's or leave them. |

BUMMER, PGWARE are you still going to participate in this forum?
Also I have your ALLOY and your IPP dll. Both are great products. |

I support Prakash 100% in his decision.
You see, it's like this.... (This merely an example.) You've sold only 8 dlls,
and you have 100 people asking for support, or you see a lot of people
on a forum asking how to use the dll, and not one of them is a registered
user. So many people asking for dlls to be made, but only a small handful
are actually willing to help cover the cost of having them made.
This is, and may always be the fate of dll authors in the VDS community.
And this includes tools for VDS. I've made some wonderful tools for VDS,
but not one released or ever will, as there just isn't any money it at all.
Well, no need for a debate or anything.... It's just that this situation can
really burn out and depress a dll author for VDS. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

I hope I'm not starting to see a downfall of VDS - extreme lack of
communication from the authors/managers of VDS, some of the most
amazing vds extensions in the world being pulled by their authors,
what will it all come to? _________________ FreezingFire

I hope not also. I have been using VDS for a long time. It is a great language. I really hope things get worked out and we can all enjoy coding once more. _________________ Chris

Hi All,
Just to let you know how usefull VDS is, not to mention the usefulness of various extensions, I invite you to beta test my new application: "Study Model Manager."
I authored this application for my girlfriend who owns her own orthodontic laboratory. Basically, the program allows orthodontists to keep a visual record of study models on their computers. (Just to let you know, study models are the "ortho casts" of teeth (usually made of Plaster of Paris (i.e. gypsum) that orthodontists use for studying a patient's case for treatment. Models are usually completed "before and after" treatment in order to facilitate a useful comparison.)
In particular, I need to beta test the application on Windows 95, on Windows 98, and on Windows Me. (Other 32-bit versions seem to work fine.)
For you "die hard" VDS programmers, you will recognize various code, DLLs, and components in use.
Note: If I have used something that falls into the category of your contribution, and if you would like recognition, then please let me know. I shall be glad to mention your name in the Help file of the final application.
Because I already have beta testers, please note that I can only accept a few additional testers. Please contact me "off the forum" if you are interested: keithglong@yahoo.com.
Thanks, and warmest regards...

Never thought I'd see the day...
Well, business is business but the saddest part about this is that those who code the keygens and cracks won't miss your extensions at all... but those of us who paid good money for them sure will. _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"

Hi Prakash, Hi folks,
I hope there is another way to solve this problem.
All my VDS Progs are based on much dlls I bought here on vdsworld or got them for free. In my Perfect-Intranet app I use 26 dlls at the moment and sometimes I need support from the authors. I already had problems in the past using treevw.dll and others. But Prakash, your dlls and Tommys are mostly the base to this app. If you really stop developing and supporting I think I cannot develop the intranet in vds anymore. We already invested more than 10.000 $ into this program - partially payed by investing customers.
I like VDS really much - not because it's easy - only because vdsworld. This is the greatest place on earth for getting Ideas, help and support. But VDS is nearly useless without some of the greatest dlls here around.
What do you think about making your dlls free and charging for support ? I would pay for this - no problem.
Hope you could find another way.
Bye, Fabia |

Me either
It's simply insane for one to believe that things change with so many Free Loaders etc around.
And U guy - whoever you are - I am sure - U R reading this - Simply mail me if U want to see my dll removed rather - if that is the way U think U "help" others. And if some one thinks I am greedy - please visit my site.
http://codescript.vdsworld.com to see if U can find an answer.
Sorry guys - but there is a limit for everything. _________________ Regards

I already done the same a few days ago. And doing it for the same reasons as PK.
All my DLLs (VDSSURFX,VDSXFLASH,VDSMEDIA,VDSPDF) have been removed from my site and VDSWORLD. And will not be sold any more or be available for download. Support will be given to people that official paid for their serials. But no more updates will be done maybe for some exceptions (MAJOR bugs).
Too bad some people here are encouraging this kind of hackers/crackers. And you know who Im talking about.
Sorry everyone.
The same reasons has PK pushed me to do so. This time its real. |
