VDS already is listed on a lot of download sites. Some of the links are for old versions, but from the point of view of improving page rank, it makes no difference.
www.dialogscript.com's Google PR is 5.
www.vdsworld.com's Google PR is 1.
I think that it's this sites prominence that needs improving, because here people will find out why they ought to be trying VDS - at dialogscript.com they can just buy it. _________________ The Tech Pro

i just did a quick study of the homepage for vdsworld and, no offense to the guys who have worked very hard to redesign it, it is not search engine friendly nor is it optimized for search engines
so, my offer to optimize the homepage still stands but now for the vdsworld homepage...if the powers that be are interested, let me know...perhaps a pm

PR is based also on how many websites are linking to yours. It's unlikely there are many websites which link to vdsworld.com thus the very low pagerank. |

If anyone has any tips to increase VDSWORLD's pagerank, they would be
really appreciated.
I don't understand though since there are many sites using the dmoz.org
directory that link to this site - there are lots of those sites, therefore
an abundance of links. _________________ FreezingFire

according to google, there is only one web site that links to www.vdsworld.com ...you can check for yourself by typing "link:www.vdsworld.com" into google...guess whose site links to vdsworld.com?
i would suggest submitting vds 5 to shareware repositories, and then submit the free version of vds to freeware repositories...i suggest using pads for both submissions as they make the process of updating versions, file sizes,...a lot easier and quicker
i would then suggest that supporting dll's written by our talented individuals be submitted to shareware repositories (not sure if they would be accepted!)
i would then suggest that vds be submitted to the many web sites that deal with programming in one form or another together with www.vdsworld.com as an excellent resource for newies and for extension dll's
i would then seek to make the vdsworld homepage optimized for search engines using keywords that folks actually type in in search engines as they seek scripts and programming languages ... and then i would submit vdsworld to the search engines

When I was still in business for myself, I purchased about 100 domain
names, setup my own web server and hosted all 100 domains there. Each
site linked to all the main site, but was also a copy of the main site.
This may not be fair, but it sure as hell worked for me. My site shot up
from obscurity to be in the google ranks anywhere from 3rd to 5th.
Eventually, each site and domain was sold or leased to a client and adjusted
to their information, and a link back to my design site was placed on the
site. My design site of course had links to the main site aswell as all my
client's sites. This continued to keep my main site up in the ranks. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

I don't think VDSWORLD's Google page rank used to be that bad. VDSWORLD used to have
search engine meta tags on the front page, but apparently they got removed after the redesign
which might explain the lower page rank.
Google can track the URLs visited by people using their toolbar after the people agree with
it, which is probably also used in determining the page rank. |

I'll try to see if we can stuff a link to vdsworld.com somewhere on the pgware.com site. We're currently running a pagerank of 6 so that should boost vdsworld's page rank slightly. |

Mind you, I think this links stuff with google only works on root domain
pages and not user pages like the www.domain.com/~joeuser/ _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

I think it might help promote VDS if Emmanuel were to set up an affiliate scheme so that people could sell it from their own sites and take a percentage of each sale. I'm thinking along the lines of the usual shareware affiliate schemes where affiliates typically receive 20%. This might encourage people to create pages about VDS on their own sites. What do others think? _________________ The Tech Pro

I am in the process of redesigning my site,
I would certainly put an affilate link on my site for VDS, VDSworld.
My site is currently a PR4, but I have recently completed a few websites for clients, who are running a RP 6 & 7, and they are linked to me, and I will link to VDS etc. Its the domino effect.
I get a PR 5 or 6, and then my links get a PR 4 or 5. Google are due to update their ranking shortly, should be within the next week or so.
They update their formula every month or, and re-run the google PR formula.
