Hello,

I was wondering if somebody maybe knows a free DLL which can do some basic speech recognition. If it can only recognise about 100 words, that would be more then enough. I am planning to make a little tool for gamers so that they can do some actions by speech, like sending little chat messages, etc.

Hey Skit...

that sounds real cool if we could find one like that. Smile I remember AOL
used to use a third-party speech recognition component in one of their
versions (I think maybe 8.0), maybe you could just load and use that. Smile

I think most speach recognition things are based upon differences in volume, perhaps you could use the vdsmix extension to achieve this with VDS. I don't know if you can get if absolutly water-tight though; words like Go! Stop! Shoot! could have the same volume differences.

Thanks for searching, but it isn't really what I'm looking for... Embarassed These examples need runtime DLL of about 100 mb... Sad

Skit,
To be honest with you. I have been looking at this for a long time and almost everyone of them require the speech engine to be installed prior to using them. Usually the speech engine is a DLL or multiple DLL's but I have been working on a self-contained speech engine built specifically for VDS. Mostly to make it possible to build Dialogs through voice commands Wink Anyway if I can get it working I will make you a beta tester for it.

Skit,
This question is best answered off of the forum. I don't want to give anyone false hopes. Wink
