Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Just got a little ticket off Laughing

Anyways, when I login to the private section at dialogscript.com and go to list my invoices, there I click on Send registration by email. Then I get a message saying it has bein sent to bla bla@.com

When I receive the email there is a link that says "click here to download the key installer..." when I click that I get this error:

The requested URL /<LONGNUMBER>-<SHORTNUMBER>/<SNUMBER>.exe was not found on this server.

That's ok Smile It just makes me upset when people bash the company so
much because its only manned by a few people.

It might take a little bit, but that's an issue with the server/key generation
program.

Yeah know what you mean.
But maybe they should think of re-organizing their support guidelines?
They could have one person that checks the forums too every now and then too incase they can't check their emails.

Anyways, I'll wait for the mail from support.

VDSWorld is an entirely unofficial site, run by VDS users for VDS users. So if CR chooses not to participate in these forums, you can't really criticize them for that.

There was once talk of setting up an official forum at dialogscript.com, but I don't know what happened to that.

By the way, is the VDS mailing list still going? Do different people use that? Personally I don't like mailing lists, I prefer to read stuff online, which is why I haven't tried to see for myself.

This is true. However, because users are the ones who pay for and use the product (the revenue of which continues the product's development), it would seem logical that CR would want to follow users' feedback and needs. This is just good business.

(Not taking sides, just making an observation.) Cool

I understand what you're saying jules.
Two of the forums I also am very active in, Purebasic and Multimedia Builder, the developers are frequently visiting the forums to help users with questions and issues that other users can't answer.

I don't mean to be too critical but there is alot of room for improvement on the support side.

BTW it's been two days now and I haven't heard anything. If they are having problems with the reg system they could atleast send out an email about it.

As I understand it the technical support is passed to people like Garrett, so in that respect support people do monitor these forums. And since I was contracted to do a lot of the work on VDS 5 (and may well be for VDS 6 as well) you can say that developers monitor them as well.

Nobody who works for Commercial Research monitors these forums but as far as I know it doesn't have any employees. The guy who owns CR rarely comes here, but he does have a lot of other interests to keep him busy. I don't think Bill Gates monitors any of the Microsoft forums either. (And yes, I agree, it's a pity he doesn't! Wink )

Yup Smile It's active and you can use it... it was being used for awhile but
again it has been fairly quiet.

If you'd like to subscribe you can do so at:
http://www.vdsworld.com/vds-l-manage

To send an e-mail to the list, send it to vds-l at vdsworld dot com

Well, I've waited 1 month now. And no word from support.
Just tried to click the send registration by email link in the billing manager and now it just says it is temporaily disabled. What's going on?

I'm getting really PISSED now.
I have sent emails to support@dialogscript.com and also an email to CR to hopefully get something that looks like a reply there. If they can't reply to a simple email after a month I think they should concider shutting down the whole thing or leave it as it was before CR got involved. Sorry if I'm being harsh now, but I think I've waited long enough now, and on top of that, the email link in the billing manager has been disabled.

If someone who has anything to do with this, even just remotely, or someone who wants to play support, email me back at geotrail@gmail.com

A reply from anyone is better than no reply Evil or Very Mad

I'll see if I can get something done on this for you. It
should not have taken this long at all. Sad

That would be nice Garrett. I'm about to give up on VDS completely Neutral
Sorry for being so harsh. But I think support was alot better before Commercial Research took over VDS.

*Waiting in despare*

I'm personally quite shocked that support has taken a month to e-mail
you back. However, I think CR is based with the same people as SADE
was, but I can't say for sure.

You aren't the only one who is shocked. In fact, I'm quite concerned. I haven't had a reply in a couple of weeks to my last email which sent him a new extension to try. I've been in discussion with Emmanuel about the next version of VDS, and normally I receive a prompt reply.

Julian, if you want to contact Emmanuel a bit faster, you could use MSN Messenger, and use his normal E-mail address to add him to your contact list. He is very regular online, like a few hours every two days, so that way you know for sure he reads your message... Smile If you are using Windows XP, you might already have the Windows Messenger program installed and you might already have a .NET Passport account which you can use with it instantly... Smile
