Jules,

i came across another occasion of my script eating files but this time have found something that may help you find out what is causing this.

I have been working on a script for some time without any problems whatever. I then added the function @FILE() to check the existence of a file and wam ... it cleared ALL the files in the folder that it was using to check the existence of the file. It cleared ALL the files that were in there: files with extensions KEI, CID, TXT and KWC

This to me seems to point that may be there is a bug with the @FILE function. Perhaps others who have had files eaten up can confirm whether they were using @FILE()

Hope this helps,

Serge

Yes, I use @FILE() in my scripts, and, YES, I lose scripts regularily. But it seems to have something to do with a glitch in script saving, rather than the use of @FILE().

It is still very annoying, however!

Hi All,
After much pondering of this issue I believe that the reason that VDS 5 is doing this is because of the new feature of deleting your script to the recycle bin. I just have no way and no time to prove this out at this time. Also I have noticed strange files in the Windows and System directory. The files are usually just a few bytes in size and have strange names set to them. I never noticed these files before VDS 5. Also if you peer into the contents of the files they have VDS 5 specific project information.

I have attached some of these files to this message in a zip file

strangefiles.zip
 Description:
Some strange files with VDS progject info found in windows directory.

i understand what you are saying marty but it ate non-vds scripts in a folder that did not contain any vds scripts + my files were not to be found in the recycle bin, they were totally lost!!!

I hope this issue is resolved in VDS 6, which I hope is coming out soon! Very Happy
