Depending on his security settings at work I think it is possible to mask the version number of Internet Explorer.
You may want to write up a small vds script and run it at work to query the registry value to see if it returns any value and post back here what return value it gives you. |

I'll make a smal program to read some registry values this weekend.
I'll try this script next tuesday at work and let you know the results.
I've also asked administrators for more info on the used policies.
Next week more in the continueing story of ............. |

I don't know if this info might be of help Jules, I managed to get some? policy info out of the system by using the command 'gpresult /z'. It produces loads of rules and settings which might or might not shed a light on this. I know quite something about the registry but not enough about policies so you have to look for yourself to see what it's worth.

Thanks. On first glance, it looks like Dutch to me!
I'll see if I can get anything useful from it when I have a bit more time. _________________ The Tech Pro

Be glad it's Dutch and not Double-Dutch
If you need a translation on certain items let me know, I thought I'd wait with translating until asked for since it's quite a bit. |

Hi Serge,
I'm afraid I used the lazy way out ....... I now use VDSSURFX (mentioned earlier in this thread) and haven't had any problems since.
So I'm afraid I'm of little help to you.

Hopefully the problem can be avoided. I don't really understand it though. I searched Google and couldn't find any other references to the problem, which seems surprising since the DLL uses what is presumably a quite widely used Delphi component. _________________ The Tech Pro

Jules -
Did you ever figure out why this problem was happening? (The version check for IE failed, even though it was a current version.)
I am running into problems with this. More and more of my users are using my programs via Terminal Services, and it seems that to use the VDSbrw50.dll, the user requires administrator rights.
The VDSSurfx .dll works well, but I would really like some of the functionality of the VDSbrw50.dll like the ability to SELECT ALL and COPY, and the NONAVIGATE style.
Marty, have you ever decided to release an update to VDSSURFX with the changes in your personal copy?
Also, the ability to use TAB within a browser element would be a huge help as well, but the other problem is more important to me. _________________ Joe Floyd |

No I didn't. I think I just took the version check out in the VDSBRW60.DLL.
The ability to tab etc. is not fixed, and is probably not fixable in any Delphi program where the browser wrapper code is in a DLL separate from the main message handling code. _________________ The Tech Pro

Well, taking out the version checking will be a big help for me. Actually, on a project I am working on right now. (Integrating taking credit card payments via a web form.)
C'mon VDS6 ..... _________________ Joe Floyd |

I agree with Jules, I also tried to find a solution for VDSSUFX and the Tab ability, and never found one. Even at another forum I am registered at a C++ Dev person has the same issue with his browser element in his C++ app.. and he did not find a solution either. As for new features in VDSSURFX, well I dont have the source anymore and dont do DLLs anymore sorry. Even VDS is rarely used on my pc. I had to switch to Delphi since the updates of VDS are not coming out.
Good luck any way, and its good that the VDS 6 Browser element is being updated tho. |

Hi All,
It is possible to enable the Tab key in the Microsoft Web Browser Control but you can't do it from a DLL since you cannot control the Message loop directly in the hosting Exe. With that said I was able to make this work with VDS 3.51 using the message API hooking abilities of Gagdet but something changed in VDS since that old version and I have not been able to replicate that code into the new VDS versions. Basicly you have to capture WM_KEYUP and check to see if the key that was released is the TAB key. For some reason VDS 5 steals the TAB key and does not allow your script access to it I have even tried sub-classing the VDS 5 dialog and it just does not pass the TAB key to it's window proc??? I tried several Windows API messages and the TAB key is just not sent. _________________ Home of
