Nathan/Aslan,
To be honest I have not figured out exactly what your trying to do with MMC 3.0 Question If all you want to do is control the Applets that it runs then you can already do that with VDS using Sendkeys and Windows messaging API's. MMC is still just a window that hosts other programs. If your intent to to build your own MMC addin then you would need direct access to the Interfaces. Still I think you could control it with VDS and actually with a little work you could probably manage to integrate a VDS dialog directly into MMC. MMC 3.0 is still backwards compatible with the older MMC applications which means it would still have to support all the normal Windows Messages.

Hi Dragonspere,

Maybe this example will help you understand.

I created an app that handles a multitude of Net Admin functions.

One feature was viewing and controlling WSUS within the VDS dialog via the browser extention since WSUS 2.0 console was a web interface. Now with WSUS 3.0 it uses MMC 3.0 instead of a web interface. I'm seeking to retain the ability to show the WSUS console within a VDS dialog. To do this I need to either be able to display the acutal MMC console within VDS or at least be able to interact with it while keeping the MMC hidden.

If you of a way to basically dock an MMC window without the title bar or a task icon please let me know.

Interestingly enough, MMC 3.0 partialy uses a browser control to display some of its information. I don't think there is a WSUS SDK and the MMC 3.0 SDK just shows how to make custom msc's

There is a WSUS SDK

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb905331.aspx

And here are some sample scripts written for .NET.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/scripts/default.mspx?mfr=true

You are correct the MMC 3.0 SDK only shows how to make snap-ins.

It should be possible to host any of those .NET scripts using GadgetX and the Windows Scripting Host.

If it helps I will see if I can host one of those scripts but I will need time to build a WSUS server and client at home?
