Hi Guys,
Just thought i would tell you about our latest project, that is designed completly in VDS, using various DLL's, the program commuicates with our server and processes paypal payments etc... I have attached a link to some screen shots...
Name: Air-Net Kiosk
Description: An internet kiosk application that locks down a win95,98,ME & XP machine and displays advertisements. A user can then book internet access via a prepay ticket or they can access the internet by booking a pay as you go service, that offers per minute, per hour and per day access. You can then pay via a credit/debit card, paypal or your air-net account (if you have enough credit).
Features:
- Advertising can be changed remotly via your web based management system
- Prices can be changed remotly
- Updates can be installed remotly
- Users Activity is recorded and marked
- You can specifify sites that can not be accessed
- You can reboot the machine remotly if an error is reported
- CTRL+ALT+DEL and other windows combinations are blocked
- File Downloading is blocked
- Can be installed very easily
- Brandable to your own brand or company
- Loads of other features
Features planned in next release:
- ability to download and upload files from a removable device (such as a memory key)
- Built in notepad for notes, copying etc...
- Air-Net Store, will allow you to upload files from a website into our database where you can download them when you get home or back to the office
- Email Sender - So you can send an email to someone...
This project has taken us 3 months to get this version ready (which is beta). But we already have interest from a huge hardware manufactor that says our software would be great with their hardware as an internet cafe solution. (we will see )
Anyway this application is to show how flexible VDS is and with a little time and effort shown what can be done...

thanks guys,
if any of you want to beta test and see what it does, ther's some pretty cool code written in the program as well as a custom dll, for which i could ask the author if they would allow it to be released.

Just wanted to let you know about some stats for our Air-Net Kiosk software.
We have updated the software now to version 2.5.8, now using the VDS6 Image Dll and Browser much much more stable that VDS5..
Hopefully you will see that VDS can be USED as a full blown application (with a bit of work)
Whats New?
- The Kiosk can be controlled remotly via our web based management panels
- You can remotly kill an internet session and display a custom message o the user
- You can lock/unlock the browsing restrictions
(Browsing restrictions are you can add urls that are not allowed, you can also enable the keyword blocker (abusive/foul language) )
- You can remotly reboot the pc, shutdownt the pc
- You can remotly restart the kiosk software
- You can remotly shutdown the kiosk software
- All urls are recored
- You can get a remote screen capture that be set to update every 5 seconds, info also returned users time left and their current url
- There is a full support ticketing system built in, which allows the user to submit a support ticket from the kiosk.
- We are currently beta testing with 10 sites our Live Chat Support module for the kiosk software.
There are a few products on the market, but we feel we have added some easy to use tools and management.
This software is turning out to be a great product for us and we currently have over 3,000 installations worldwide !
We are working on some new additions to the kiosk that will be in the next version, they are:
- Allow downloading to a USB memory stick only !
- User notepad, where they can store information on our server from websites
- User specific search engines, a user can specifiy at the start of their session which search engine they want to use
Just to let you know |

Thats awesome. And here I thought I was cool for making a weather kiosk for the airports that updates the weather via satellite connection (all in VDS also).
The kiosk I wrote also plays music and announcements and has the ability for advertisers to purchase audio ads that are played in the airports.
Awesome job. I really like the look and feel of what you did.
