Moved on to other languages mostly, but revisit VDS 5.2 once in a while for a simple job. But pretty much dropping everything else and going back to Pascal now. Been near 14 or 15 years since I last worked in Pascal, with a brief check in on Delphi once when Prakash gave me some help... But I still check the forums here almost daily. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

My story is more or less the same as Garretts, working mostly with Delphi and Lazarus these days and also learning Java (Eclipse/NetBeans) now.
I also daily look into this forum for news, but it's gone awfully quiet.
For maintenance on some older projects and for some quick jobs I still use VDS 5.2 every now and then but all new projects I do are now done in Delphi or Lazarus.
A pity VDS is not marketed more agressively. It still has good potential but if nobody's told then nobody will know.
Except for us happy few of course.

I'm still around too, I check in almost daily but don't always have time to offer help.
Maybe Commercial Research should invest in some Google AdWords _________________ FreezingFire

Yup.
I'm here also. I check in about once a week.
Delphi is my main language now, but I still use VDS for small quick apps.

I still drift in when I can. Not as much as I'd like. Have moved to
programming mainly in C, when I can find the time, but I am also
experimenting with another scripting language called Euphoria. _________________ Bill Weckel

I still like to use VDS. I would like to see an update to VDS6 as there are a number of known bugs.
Because the support and community for VDS are relatively inactive, I have looked for an alternative. The best I have found to date is Autohotkey, which can do everything VDS can and more. It also has an amazing user community, with more posts in a day than VDSWorld gets in several months. The syntax is quite easy to adapt to from VDS. However, the GUI side of Autohotkey is not nearly as user friendly.
I also use Delphi 7 which produces a very polished result but with significantly more effort than VDS or Autohotkey.
So yes, I'm still here too! |

The same goes for me - I am still using VDS 5.02 (not as often as I used to) and check these forums whenever I can to keep myself updated.
However, I am currently going with PureBasic, syntax-wise very easy to learn and a very solid programming environment.
What I am going to miss is the charm of the VDS communtiy... _________________ Greetings to all the folks back home in the States. A friendly "hola -como estas" to all my friends from Spain and Greece. |
