Since I'm using the NEW VDSRUN40.DLL from VDS 4.5, it will replace your
VDSRUN40.DLL from VDS 4.0 You should do a backup before installing the player. I tried implementing a sort of detection in the install but it
doesn't seem to see the difference between both DLL's. BACKUP YOUR DLL IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE VDS 4.5 INSTEAD OF 4.0
This does not apply to VDS 3.x users.

|
|
Hello,
I updated the VDSWORLD Media Player Preview Edition.
New features/Changes:
- Now you can choose to use either VDSMPEG.DLL MP3 (PGWARE) engine or VDSMP3.DLL/Xaudio (Tommy Sools) engine. Simply go to the preferences panel by right clicking on the player. In the Special Settings section choose your MP3 Engine. Both of the engines are probably equivalent in sound quality and stability. CPU utilisation may be different. The VDSMP3.DLL uses less CPU time. A minor disavantage of VDSMP3.dll over the VDSMPEG.DLL engine is you won't see the MHZ and KBPS on the player because VDSMP3.DLL does not have those features.
By adding this feature new VDS users who wants to create an MP3 player can test the differences in sound quality and stability before making their choice. Please look at the documentation of the VDSMP3.DLL for the license information of the Xaudio.dll.
The VDSMPEG.DLL version of the player is the same as the previous version (1.0.0).
- Updated Preferences Panel
- Fixed 1 minor bug
Download the updated player at : http://www.vdsworld.com/index.php?page=download&fileid=175
There won't be anymore updates in the near future (unless theirs a major bug)for the VDSWORLD Player. I will now work on with my own personnal VDS projects.
Thank you.

Yes indeed it took a lot of time to code and create the skins.
Since Im working on a new version of my personnal player (eXtremeMP3 Player v3.0) I decided to update the VDSWORLD Player too.
Check out this thread and feel free to put any new features you would like to see in the future version....

Thanks for the bug...I'll check that one out..
But for the next release I may remove the VDSMP3.DLL (Xaudio) engine from the player. (because of license issues with Intertrust owners of Xaudio)
The VDSMPEG.DLL from PGWARE is pretty stable and sounds really good.. Ive been using it for a while now on my other test player. |

I thought of doing that a while back, but I had problems with MCI and MP3's. Probably me and my coding...
You plan to release it?
I'm curious to see it... |

MCI seems to skip when certain programs are opening and while IE is loading a webpage.
Not sure if that is just me or not though. Don't have any problems with programs like Winamp or Marty's players. _________________ -Sheep

Same except for Win ME.
I imagine XP has better MCI and deals with multi-tasking better. _________________ -Sheep

The difference between using MCI and dll's such as mine (vdsmpeg) and Tommy's (vdsmp3) is that these dll's have built in mp3 decoders. People with older legacy machines and including those with win 98 may not have a mp3 decoder installed on their computer unless they have upgraded service packs and the newer windows media player installed - this means using MCI to play mp3's on these systems will not work. |

Also with an MP3 DLL, you can control the volume, easily get the bitrate, mhz, control the buffer size, track position, lenght, etc...
I remember now why I drop the MCi solution for MP3's... I built a prototype player using it and when I tried on different Windows version I had problems. On Win 2K no sound would come out, on Windows 98 was OK, and Windows 95 OSR2 would work. I too had the skipping thing on Windows 98.
With VDSMPEG.DLL, there's was skipping at the beginning of my developement, but after I tweaked the buffer size function of the DLL everything played perfectly, even on a Pentium 150 with 32 megs on Windows 95.
Thats why I finally bought the DLL.

The player has been removed from the downloads section of VDSWORLD because of the new MP3 Licensing.
For more info please read this thread:

Will come back hopefully with OGG or WMA support in the future. |
