Does anyone know of a way to use Firefox or Chrome engine for a browser element instead of IE?
Thanks! _________________ Chris

There used to be an ActiveX control for Mozilla that I have used in the past however it was not advanced enough at the time to use it for any kind of production use. It was missing a lot of things that the IE browser control has. That is why I never bothered to finish the Mozilla browser control for VDS. If I get enough interest I will finish the Mozilla browser control for VDS. Also the control requires you to install a version of the Mozilla browser about 5MB of files which is packaged with the ActiveX control. I don't know if that would appeal to many here. _________________ Home of

True. Installing an extra 5MB would not be appealing.
Thanks for the info! _________________ Chris

Is there anyway for us to put together a zip file of only the needed files for the ActiveX component to work? Instead of needing to install a related browser. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

yes there is... It comes as a package and it is all self contained in a single directory so it is not hard to re-package it. However there are other issues with the AcitveX control and the big one is the fact that it is still using Mozilla 1.5 code base. I may be able to update it to the current but it would take a lot of work and many weeks/months to do it. _________________ Home of

Then I say no to it. I just don't see a large enough audience here anymore for such a thing and I'd really hate to see you put in so much time and effort for so little usage of the end result. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

Funny to see this topic. I have just been dealing with recently. I wish there was a Firefox browser element, but it sounds like quite an investment of time to create. _________________ Joe Floyd |
