I really don't care if VDS is dead.

It'll be dead in the same way the pyramids are dead, yeah they are no longer in development, but damn! What an accomplishment!

VDS is a triumph. I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.

I've been using VDS for over a decade, and the way Microsoft is developing I'll be using it for 10 years more.

Most VDS programs are compatible in Linux under WINE, so there's that too.

So...I most certainly hope the torch gets re-lit and I hope someone else is able to purchase VDS from CR.

If not...what a shame...but VDS rocks.

I'll continue to use it for as long as possible either way.

Just my thoughts, let me know yours.

Agreed as well.

Nothing that I've seen beats VDS for whipping up a quick little program.
It's such a shame to watch it slowly crumbling and becoming another extinct species in the vast jungle of programming. If only it could evolve and keep up the pace a bit.

I agree 100%!

So fast to build little powerfull tools..

Like I said in my other thread, VDS should mature also to the emerging market of apps (espacially on Android) for portable devices, which make VDS fly up to the roof in sales.

I agree as well. I still have clients that I am developing apps in VDS for. I really hope it can continue, I will be using it until it doesn't work in Windows any more. Long live VDS.

I still activly use it, its very for working up a quick app.... and we do a lot of mysql/php/remote stuff and vds is great for intergrating with php files on a remote server running mysql etc.

We have a great chat tool we developed for our support technicains where they can get and query a remote pc for problems...

They login to the website, select the pc and run the tests, VDS checks the website/database every few mins, performs the tests and then posts the results to the database... really handy.

I know i have complained a small bit in the past, but the truth is, for simple quick and even full blown apps, vds is a lot simplier than starting from scratch on another language.
