I want to have hotkeys for my app, but do not want to use the HOTKEY command. I want to use menu items with hotkeys attached, but I don't want the menu visible. Is there a way to hide a menu without using a DLL?

From what I remember, you should be able to add a &-character to the caption of a button in front of the letter you wish to capture. Whenever the user presses ALT+letter, it should trigger the button event.

Yes I am aware of that though I want to use the escape key as the hot key. Without having to press the Alt key. Only way to do that without the hotkey command it using a menu.

How about setting the ESC up as HOTKEY whenever your program is visible, and removing the hotkey when it goes to the background?

Yes that is what I did at first but after a while it seems to slow the app down. It is for work and I keep it open all day.
