I just found this out...you can use NET SEND to send a message to another person on the internet, and it might be useful for the VDSWORLD forum chat system...you would need to have your computer's IP Address, which can be found by going to START > RUN > CMD.EXE > ipconfig /all and looking for the line labeled "IP Address"...
You can use my NET SEND messaging program that I posted a while back...: http://www.vdsworld.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=451&start=0 _________________ FreezingFire

On Windows ME it tells me command SEND is unknown and for a list of valid commands use NET HELP..
So might not be useful as it's appearantly not universal. _________________ -Sheep

hmmm...now that I think about it, I remember it only works on Windows 2000 and XP...so it might not be useful... _________________ FreezingFire

Just an idea....
You can use the vdsinet.dll net socket, sendall commmand.
I made something which looks like MSN Messenger, so why a chat program for the forum won't work?
You could make something like MIrc (don't know if I spelled it right).
If you need any help, just send me a message _________________ phpBB Development Team |

I started a chat program that I turned over to Marty. I used that dll to do it. We had it working quit well. I don't know if he is still developing it or not. _________________ Chris

I haven`t had a chance to continue working on the code that Liquide Code gave me yet. I have a bunch of little projects to finish up.
LiquidCode did a great a job with the little chat prog.
Also I started working a Flash based chat system a few months ago, again havent finished it. I gave a compiled version to Protected to try out.
BTW Protected message me for some feedback on this, I have an idea on integrate it with the VDSWORLD checkup app of Tommy... using VDSSWFLA.DLL..

Hi Marty,
If you integrate a Flash-chat application in Tommy's Forum checker, will the vdsswfla.dll be freeware?? Or do you compile that program? |

After chatting a bit with Skit, I got an idea. I will take the action script of the Flash client and convert it to VDS. (If possible)
That way there wont be any need for the Flash client or VDSSFWLA.DLL.
The action script uses CGI calls, that call be easily done with VDS I think.

Very cool. Does that mean that there will be no need for the flash dll at all or is that just for this script? _________________ Chris

Right no Flash DLL. But first I have to look at the Flash script if I can convert it to VDS. But I'm very confident it can be done.
