Can't VDS support 265 color icons instead of only 32x32 16 color icons?
Any help welcome,

Maybe you can try to use a tool like Reshacker or something to change the icon... |

Oops... I don't think the unregistered version of Visual DialogScript supports icons at all!
I think this may have been updated in VDS 4 although I'm not certain. |

Which icons do you mean? The icons you can use with the BITMAP element? |

I still think you mentioned a "VDS executable icon". |

I did, but now i see that a taskicon is much easier.

As far as I know, you can use whatever icon you want with the TASKICON element. I think it's just the icon you use for your compiled exe that requires a 16 color icon only.

Is it a limitation of the version of Delphi that VDS was compiled with that it only supports 16-color icons for execuatbles?
If not, why did S.A.D.E. place the limit? _________________ FreezingFire

VDS 3 only supports 32x32 16 color icons for the main exe. VDS 4 supports high resolution icons. I just tried a 256 color icon with no problem with VDS 4.
However no version of VDS supports multi-resolution icons yet (multiple icons packed into a single .ico file). But you can use a small console application called ReplaceIcon to change your VDS icon to any type of icon you want (the ReplaceIcon will work only under Me, 2000, XP due to an API that is not on other windows platforms).
PS - Funny how some of us can compile exe's when vds isn't registered, funny. |

I just tried it with my VDS version 4.5 -- odd that I had previously
thought I couldn't compile it with a 256 color icon.
I had registered VDS a while ago and maybe had downloaded an older
version of VDS 4 which had no support for 256 color icons.
Or maybe I just assumed that it didn't allow 256 color icons because I
had tried to use one that had multiple icons, which was not valid. _________________ FreezingFire

Ehhhh.......
Why do you (Prakash) think that I am using a unregistered version of VDS? By the way, I don't think i need to COMPILE a script before I can use the taskicon dialog element, or am i wrong????
BTW
A friend and me are planning to register VDS 4.50. We almost did, but his parents are making trouble about the costs, but that problem will be fixed within in a week or something.
You can ask Tommy, if you don't believe me

Please realize that planning on registering VDS is not the same as registering VDS
at all. Also even if planning on registering, use of a crack for Visual DialogScript 3
remains illegal. Now that Vic tried to (mis)use my name as an authority, I'll have to
explain his situation.
As Vic doesn't have access to a credit card, he asked me to register VDS for him.
Before I could do so, I'll have to receive the money from him by bank. We agreed
that I would have received the money on about 12 or 13 November. Only then I could
do anything for him. Since then I haven't received anything from him, so I explicitely
do not have that much confidence anymore in his registration.
Also notice that I am not a friend of Vic, so that I really couldn't know if he's telling
the truth ever. Therefore I won't be able to confirm or deny what he said if you ask me.
I really couldn't know if Vic really "almost did" register VDS, it could just be an excuse
for another delay. Anyway almost is not enough.
Until Vic ceases his illegal use of Visual DialogScript and becomes registered, his
account will be banned from the forum. After confirmation of his registration all
VDSWORLD services will become available to him again.

Tommy mentioned that you were unregistered to me weeks ago And the fact the title bar of this post was about the vds exe's icon where upon later you changed it when confronted. You can't necessarily compile an exe if your not registered - leads me to think your using a crack/keygen.
Just pay the money for VDS if your going to use it, otherwise disappear if you want to pirate. |
