Hi,
For those who bought either VDSMEDIA, VDSSURFX, VDSPDF or VDSSWFLA.
Because of code changes , these extensions aren't compatible with the new VDS 5.
Updates to these extensions are not planned.
So they are only compatible with VDS 4.5 or lower.
Thank you.

They're not???? You sure you defined the functions and commands for
them when you tried them??
Call the dll using EXTERNAL, then DEFINE COMMAND and DEFINE FUNCTION..

Yup. I tried.
After some discussions with Commercial Research Ltd, it seems that some changes in VDS 5 affects some VDS extensions that adds a control over the VDS dialog.
Until Commercial Research Ltd sends me the details to what I have to change to make my extensions compatible to VDS 5, I can't really do anything about it. Even when I get that info, I may not update my extensions. Do I really want to invest more hours ? After having really bad sales? Well Im not sure I will update them anyways. Sorry.
So like I said my extensions are only compatible with VDS 4.5 or lower.
Thanks you. |

Not to be critical, but don't sound so depressed. With VDS 5 out this
will appeal to much more people, including big-time developers. You just
may get more sales if you keep at it. _________________ FreezingFire

No I am entirely serious. In my opinion, VDS 2, 3, and 4 were very weak.
With VDS 5 which boasts access to the Windows API, almost anything is
possible -- you could even add your own controls in VDS itself!
Well we've got to rid this board of the cynical and depressing attitudes
which have been brought forth by recent issues, so let's be optimistic
today. _________________ FreezingFire

As one who bought all four of your excellent extensions Marty, I would very much like to see them updated to be compatible with VDS 5! Pleeeeease?
Also, on the topic of cynicism... we are entering a new era in the world of VDS. I predict that we will see more amazing innovations in VDS programming than we have ever seen before. I for one would like to see a growing trend of making the best of things as they are. Commercial Research is obviously working very hard on the bugs that have been found. They could have waited even longer to release it but they didn't. They gave it to us to start playing with. I am very excited about all the possibilities! _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"

I also as an owner of all four extensions hope that they will be updated to be compatible with VDS 5. (Of course Marty you already knew that but I had to say it.)

This is silly! How can someone sell his products, then withdraw them, then stop supporting users who have paid for these products??!!
Guess who will never buy anything from this guy again!?

First I still support my products.
Secondly, support doesnt mean UPDATES. And why would I invest more hours in making my DLLs compatible with VDS 5, when its because of code changes in it that my DLLs dont work properly anymore.
Some people dont realize here that I invested lots of hours in developping my extensions, help, examples, debugging, testing, and fixes.
All that for something just 20$ in 9 months for 1 extension.
Your free not to buy anything from me Arcray in the future.
But DONT SAY I AM NOT GIVING SUPPORT FOR MY EXTENSIONS!
I usually reply back within 24 hours when I get a request for support. |

Andy,
I did buy these extensions ... as a matter of fact I bought two licenses for two of them. Marty hasn't stopped supporting the extensions. When he created the extensions they were for VDS 4 and below. As 5 was not out he did not make any statement that they would be compatible with 5. You are going a little overboard on this. Look at major software companies when a new version of Windows comes out they do not upgrade all their products to be compatible if it isn't going to be too much work or not cost effective.
Now is this upsetting ... yes of course, but I completely understand Marty's position. I have had no problems with Marty in any way so far to make me not purchase products from him in the future.
Now with all that said, Marty I still hope you will really look at making the extensions VDS 5 compatible
- Mark
P.S. Andy don't take any of this as me jumping on you, I just felt that you were not looking at the whole picture. |

99% of you are really nice to encourage me. Thank.
BTW If its only minor changes in my extensions I will update them to support VDS 5. PAID users will receive an email with the updated extension. Like I said if I update them. |

| Well since the release of VDS 5 there seems to be problems with VDS eextensions in general. So I don't think its my extensions the problem after all, but VDS 5. Sorry. |
