I don't know if you have seen this page yet CodeScript -

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/shellcc/platform/commctls/listview/messages/lvm_setextendedlistviewstyle.asp

It details all? of the styles that the list view can use. It should be possible to mix and match the styles together to produce nice results.

Hi Prakash
I had seen that Smile and had included all that is feasible in VDS. Some need a determined effort eg. LVS_EX_FLATSB would be very cool but user has to take care of all positioning etc and some are near impossible as VDS runtime is also handling these events.
I have tried include only those that work with both 9x and XP and that don't crash the script.
Further VDS 5.x unlike it's predecessors doesn't like a lot of API messages being hurled on it - Error 216/217 Sad for no reason.

Wouldn't it be great idea to create a .dsu which contains all those apis, but then with english-like commands and functions? Wink I would be glad to help.

Vic

That is probably not feasible as each API is unique.
And they require unique strutures callbacks arrays etc some of which is beyond capabilites of VDS and most importantly you have limited variables and even if some one has such a large amount of time debugging it (I even fear to imagine LOL ) you would soon run out of memory and also the ability to define custom commands and functions is also limited.
As for constants may be some future version of VDS might have header access suport etc. So that one can give a preprocessor command to include a header (modified for the script or automatically) so that you can just type the name of the constant or type etc.
But IMHO VDS was never built to support such a kind of thing from it's very inception (syntax comes in way) and a typical VDS user may not be looking forward for it.

I have tried to put up a couple of API examples for VDS mostly with complete source so that it will help both as a quick solution for a newbie and a stimulus to learn to use API for those who wish. But the problem is people hardly download and try them Sad may be because of the warnings I put up Confused or because they don't need it.
One more thing to note is these kind of work take really large time and effort to build a unit that works. Once U have a unit it then it is easy to use.
If anyone needs they can download all at one place from the site in my sig.

CodeScript you're right vds5 has a problem with some api messages, take a look at the BM button messages, none of the appear to work with vds5 anymore ? Sad while older versions of vds worked fine, maybe they changed the component for buttons?

Hi Prakash
As for BM Button messages I think VDS 5 runtime handles some aspects of the button drawing itself unlike its's predecessors (developers can confirm/detail on this). Same holds true for some others too where one cannot set a different style for a element e.g. In table element you cannot remove the gylphs. One cannot change the CBS_DISABLENOSCROLL style for a combo and so on.
I think Check dialog element still behaves normally and can be converted to a button or anything for that purpose.

I was just trying to do some things with a table, when I found out this:

Code:
  DIALOG CREATE,Nieuw Dialoog,-1,0,349,324
  DIALOG ADD,TABLE,TABLE1,33,28,262,229,Column 1[80]|Column 2[80]|Column 3[80]
  DIALOG SHOW

list add,table1,1@tab()2@tab()3
list add,table1,1@tab()2@tab()3
list add,table1,1@tab()2@tab()3
list add,table1,1@tab()2@tab()3
list add,table1,1@tab()2@tab()3
list add,table1,1@tab()2@tab()3
list add,table1,1@tab()2@tab()3

%A = -79999
%2 = ~TABLE1
LOADLIB USER32
%H = @STRDEL(@WINEXISTS(%2),1,1)
IF %H
  %O = @LIB(USER32,GetWindowLongA,INT:,%H,-16)
  info %O
  %Z = @LIB(USER32,SetWindowLongA,INT:,%H,-16,@SUM(%O,%A))
  END
FREELIB USER32

:Evloop
wait event
goto @event()

:Close
info @text(TABLE1)
exit

When you run this, you can change the values of items just like you rename files with the Windows Explorer. Does anybody know how to user this style, and just keeping the normal table layout? And I don't know if it is possible, but does anybody know how to let this "rename" style only work on, for example, the second column? If this is possible, we already have a ValueEditor in VDS itself... Smile

Ho-ho, we're not there yet... Wink First we have to know the right style, because this one (-79999) removes all columns, and makes a kind of list of the table element... Smile

  %H = @STRDEL(@WINEXISTS(%2),1,1)
  IF %H
    %O = @LIB(USER32,GetWindowLongA,INT:,%H,-16)

This is what I got until now. Is it worth continuing this, or should I just make a solution with a table and an editbox element myself?

Code:
  DIALOG CREATE,Test,-1,0,220,320
  DIALOG ADD,TABLE,TABLE1,10,10,200,300,Value[144]|Name[50]
  DIALOG SHOW

# SWAP ORDER
%M = @BINARY(DWORD,0)@BINARY(DWORD,0)@BINARY(DWORD,0)
%Z = @SENDMSG(@WINEXISTS(~TABLE1),@SUM($1000,5Cool,2,@ADDR("%M"))

# GRID
%X = @SENDMSG(@WINEXISTS(~TABLE1),@SUM($1000,54),0,$1)

# FULL ROW SELECT
%X = @SENDMSG(@WINEXISTS(~TABLE1),@SUM($1000,54),0,$20)

# MAKE EDITABLE
%%LVS_EDITLABELS = $200
%%LVS_NOCOLUMNHEADER = $4000

%2 = ~TABLE1
LOADLIB USER32
%H = @STRDEL(@WINEXISTS(%2),1,1)
IF %H
  %O = @LIB(USER32,GetWindowLongA,INT:,%H,-16)
  %Z = @LIB(USER32,SetWindowLongA,INT:,%H,-16,@SUM(%O,%%LVS_EDITLABELS,%%LVS_NOCOLUMNHEADER))
  END
FREELIB USER32

  list add,table1,10@tab()Top
  list add,table1,20@tab()Left
  list add,table1,200@tab()Width
  list add,table1,100@tab()Height
  list add,table1,BUTTON@tab()Type
  list add,table1,BUTTON1@tab()Name
  list add,table1,Click this button!@tab()Value

:Evloop
wait event
goto @event()

:Close
exit

Hi all
This is always better than Adding a Edit box as that will not be transparent - only problem with current one is the white blocks for gylphs.

Hi Skit
You can add the message I suggeted above to Tabledouble click event so that will be more intuitive to user.

Did anyone ever figure out how to make more than one column editable?

Has anyone tried using an imagelist the table element.

I noticed that the Ssmenu and SStree Dlls create imaglists.

I wonder if the table element can be set to use these imagelists.

If so, I think there might be a possibility of changing the image size in the table.
