Hi Again,
I played around with it some more. This time, I zipped a regular .exe (i.e. not an SFX). Same results as before... No warning when extracted from the .zip file.
Please note that Winzip is installed on my machine and is set as my default zip utility. Perhaps the warning messages only appear when .zip files are opened via Windows XP? If this is the case, then the warning will probably not appear to users using earlier operating systems (or to XP users using third-party zip applications).
Can anyone confirm?
Cheers,
- Boo |

Okay boys and girls...
Confirmed. I set XP to open zip files and receive the warning for the .exe in the .zip. However, no warning when the .zip is opened with a third-party app.

That figures.
FYI, I received a warning this afternoon opening in Explorer a PDF file from a downloaded ZIP file. Paranoia or what? _________________ The Tech Pro

No, using FAT32 here since I install and uninstall different versions of
Win9x and NT frequently. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

Windows XP SP2 is fine for me. It just frustrated me when I found out
that the startup screens for both Windows XP Home Edition and Windows
XP Professional editions are now identical. Kind of makes me feel like
they are worth about the same. _________________ FreezingFire
