On some Setup programs generated by V-Setup, they do not start but
error with the following message:
I am running Windows XP Professional. The latest error I received was from
CNodNarb's V-Setup generated "Mimick Tool".
EDIT: Come to think of it, I think it happened on CNodNarb's Web Write Pro
setup program before it was open source. Maybe CNodNarb should re-install
V-Setup for the latest version. _________________ FreezingFire

Crappy. I was not aware of any problems, and I have used this program for professional distribution in the past.
My V-Setup version is 1.5 Copyright 1998 S.A.D.E.
Mimic Tool will be available within an hour of this post under SFX format.

NodNarb,
Your V-Setup distribution is too old. You couldn't expect that one to be updated anymore.
Please get version 2.10 at:

Even with 2.1 there are many problems, reported at least a year ago, with Emmanuel promising to fix them, but no fixes forthcoming. Perhaps we need an open source version? _________________ Andrew GRAY

Well, making an open-source version isn't too difficult. Make a program that packs files into a ZIP file (mtzip.dll) and use Alloy to put this in the installation file. Then you have an all-in-one EXE-installation file... |

If you want an open source setup program, you can take a look at this
professional-looking installer. It's not quite finished, but with a few
contributions from others, it could be a great installer.

NodNarb's Mimic Tool now comes with an open source installer (made by me). Uses a interesting method to get the job done.

I'm getting ready to look at FreezingFire's though, to see how mine stacks up. Considering I did this in about an hour...Fire's might be the better bet.

Does it, NodNarb? If I try to use it on my computer I still get the "oleaut32.dll" error
stated above.

GREAT. Looks like ya just can't trust anyone nowadays! Nah, seriously I just need to find a product that works. I might upgrade to V-Setup 2.1 or some other proggie, but only until I know what works for real.
