Well yes finally version 2 of VDSOBJ is released.

Download Here

Basically this new version fixes a TON of bugs that were in the older version as well as allowing many of the controls to now use a FLAT style. Also the richedit context menu bug has now been fixed and full ole and url handling support has been added. A new addition to the GRID is that it now supports full word wrapping.

Removals: GIF's are no longer supported in this version, due to licensing issues and partially because animated gifs crash Delphi 5-7. Also the FILELIST no longer supports a file mask.

For those not familiar with the VDSOBJ:
This extension adds new visual controls into your programs. Controls such as a new GRAPHIC control which allows you to display JPEG, ICON, WMF, EMF, BMP files which support transparency, autosizing, clicking (right, left, middle mouse buttons, also double clicking). A RICHEDIT control which is similar to an EDIT control but allows different font styles, images, ole, urls. A GRID control which allows you to show multi column list type information and can be used for databases. Also controls such as a COLORCOMBO, FONTCOMBO, FILELIST and DIRECTORYLIST are within the vdsobj.

Which installation/setup package do you use. I am finally having to ditch V-Setup and I liked the look of the one you used.

Thanks in advance

If I'm not all mistaken this setup is made with Inno Setup:

Mine seems to work, although I still get a limit of 50 records on the GRID control

Thanx for the install utility link Dread! Redistribution has been a nightmare for me lately.

You're welcome, NodNarb. If you wanna play around with Inno, you should get
the GUI frontend for it also. It'll make your life easier Wink :

Thanx again Dread, although i've already got "Gosub Toolbar" repacked and distributed with Inno already (I jumped on it like a starving wolf LoL), i'm sure the front end will come in handy later!

Yes I use JRsoftware.org's InnoSetup. The reason I use it is because it's been the most reliable. I purchased InstallShields latest product and it was completely full of bugs - had to return it ($800), I've also purchased several shareware setup programs on the internet and all had their fair share of bugs in them. I finally tested out this free utility InnoSetup and found that it is almost bug free and has been working great.

The version I am using was modified, if you want the modified pieces (new icons for setup/uninstall moduals as well as the bitmaps) email me at pk@pgware.com and I'll send them to you.

Also yes as with all my products UPDATES are always free of charge, so your previous serial code will work with version 2.

I've been using the free version of the Tarma Installer and like it (http://www.tarma.com). Both the free and the Pro have a ton of features.

VDSOBJ UPDATE: GIF support has been re-added - thanks to Martin from extremesenses.com for telling me about the new gifimage component which works with Delphi 7.

However there's still a slight glitch in the component which does not allow animated gifs to work from within a dll - so for now gif's will work in the vdsobj2 but animated gifs will only show the first image.

The update version has been uploaded.

Updated once again. Fixed bugs where several SETCELL, SEEKCELL commands would not work with the GRID while the grid was hidden. Also fixed the bug within the GRID which was causing wordwrapping to misalign the text to the extreme top left. New version 1.1.16.2003 version has been uploaded.

Another update. Added a new object GAUGE, which adds a horizontal style progress bar/guage to vds window. Supports the percentage text ontop of the control as well. Styles such as : vertical, needle and pie allow you to change the guages shape/type. Also supports the ability to act as a FLAT style control.

A new function @object(filedlg) is now implemented. This basically replicates the VDS @fileldlg() function but uses the new Windows Common File dlg forms instead of the old design, the new design will show up when used on Windows ME, 2000, XP, and higher versions of Windows, on previous versions of Windows it will show the same old style common dialogs.

I really like the @object(filedlg) function. I've always wanted the new
file dialog for my VDS apps. Very Happy
