Can any of you people that talk with S.A.D.E see if they might be interested in offering the ability of pre-ordering VDS5? |

| I'll ask the people up at SADE. This is an interesting idea and I'm sure they will be willing to do it. I can't promise anything but I'll ask and post back here any information they can offer. |

Yep, I agree, I would purchase VDS5 - Pre-order in a heart beat (now i know that the Memory Leak is Fixed !, 95 % of my programs have been put on hold due to the Memory Leak)
I bought VDS 3 & 4 and I would certainlly buy VDS 5

I would upgrade the 3 copies I use as well, but I would be nervous of pre-paying until the product arrives. It could be six months before it arrives, or it could never see the light of day with no chance of getting the money back.
SADE needs to fully publish the release timetable and quit hiding behind the silence. If they cannot do this, they ought to thing about selling the source to someone who can market it and support it properly!
Whilst this forum is very good, and the product itself is brilliant, the organisation behind it sucks!
...Later, I felt the above comment may be a liitle harsh, but I still believe it is the support and continuing development that will make VDS a success, rather than a niche product which it is now. Having a good product is not enough. The web site needs to be overhauled and react to criticisms and bug reports in a timely manner. Bugs should be acknowledged with a timescale to fix them. Halting support and development on V-Setup despite bugs without announcement and despite promises, creates a feeling in users that VDS itself might go that way.
It is good news that VDS5 is almost there, but it does need to be there and be being actively marketed and supported by SADE for us to have any faith in it's continued existence. _________________ Andrew GRAY

Good news and bad news.
Bad News first: No pre-orders will be taken. Simply because issues registration keys now means that they may/may not function correctly if SADE chooses to make any change to the reg system before it's release.
Good News: The told me since the release is 'very close' it would be pointless to offer such a 'short' pre release time.
They are still working on vds but from what was said it appears vds 5 will be out within a few days/week(s). |

| Andy those comments are real harsh. SADE is not a multi-million dollar company. They try to put out products as timely as they can but you cannot expect them to work full time all the time on VDS (even though they have) when they also have other customers and products to support. It takes time and alot of money to promote a product, when you don't have millions of dollars it is not as simple as you make it sound. |

Hummm,, I don't agree with you at all. They dont "SUCK" like you say. I registered VDS a while back and never had any problems with support or getting information from them. In fact I got more than my moneys worth with support and in general compared to what I would have had with a big company like Bordland or Micro$oft.
I use Delphi, VDS, and Multimedia builder a lot. And both VDS support/ MMB support are great. And you know what, both are small companies, less than 10 people I think.
VDS 5 will be a great upgrade...
Thats my opinion... |

On the other hand, how long has VDSWorld been around and been populated, and developers are seemingly just now(or maybe again) stopping by to help out and see how we feel?
I don't know about now, but for a while support from SADE was lacking, I think that's basically all Andy was trying to say. _________________ -Sheep

You have to realize that vdsworld was originally something I created and recently was given to Tommy to operate (which btw he's done a great job!), so vdsworld isn't an official site.
The developers have always been here and have read many of the comments, they simply have not posted to keep their privacy and I can respect that. In the past people would find the developer's email addresses and email them constantly for help with simple scripts, that's honestly not what they are there for. Developers of vds really do not have any obligation to post on this site, if you want official responses or communications with the developers there is the dialogscript.com registered users forum. |

I understand that. There was just about no support from the official board either, so you have to ask somewhere.. Bottom line, if support is good now, that's great. It wasn't for a while though. _________________ -Sheep

Its strange tho, I go sometimes on the regusers forums on the SADE web site, and don't see lots of post from any of you guys (Unless you use different nickname). Garrett seems to do a great job giving support over there.
Maybe you should try to post any serious problems you have there instead of here? no? |

When I posted questions there I don't believe Garrett was the support guy.
My questions were never replied to(they weren't that important anyway) so I stopped trying. From the sounds of it, other users had the same problem.
Anyway, this is getting quite off topic. No need to continue it _________________ -Sheep
