BTW I am not trying to be mean by informing you that your DLL does not work. I am merrly stating that i use the dlls and they do now not work with VDS5.

If possiable can i ask the authors of all dlls to test their dlls with VDS5 and make any changes if possiable.

We could not have great programs without some of the DLL authors ! Very Happy Very Happy

I use the dlls below regularly and in one programme, all of them. I have tried to follow all the conversion techniques to make these DLLS work with VDS5, but each passthrough fails with one error or another. Can the authors of these DLLS create snippets of VDS5's #DEFINE code that we can all use (and test) so that we all do not have to find the same solution?

Whoooo, Nathan - you must have been busy.

Great idea BTW Thumbs Up

Another little strange thing. I have checked out my favorite DLL, vdsxfn. It seems to work - sometimes..... Shocked

Code:
external vdsxfn.dll
if @ok()
  #DEFINE FUNCTION,FX
  %%string = "123456789"
  %a = @FX(REVERSE,%%string)
  info Reversed string: %a
end

Sometimes the correct string "987654321" is output, and other times I get:

Quote:
Error: Style already defined
at line: 5

Obviously there's something wrong with the errorcode system. Even though the DLL
is setting them to 0, VDS will interpret them as something else. So this is entirely to blame
to VDS 5 and has nothing to do with any of the DLLs.

ooppss...can the authors of the following also let me know if they are planning on upgrading their dll's to working with vds 5 (for the same reasons mentioned above)

- vdsprot

- vdsbin

- vdsinet

- vdsutil

i need to know because i use these in programs that i sell on the net and upgrading to vds 5 may depend on whether these dll will be working under vds 5 or not...and i will need to make appropriate plans for adding new features (or not) to my programs

i know that it is a big ask but i really need to know

thanks in advance

Serge

Who needs the DLL's when you can do it yourself with the API Wink
If you paid for the DLL's hopefully they are fixed though..

The problem from what I as well as other dll developers have found is within VDS not within the dll's. Our dll's have worked from vds 2- 4 without problems and have not changed, vds 5 has changed something in the way dlls are being executed, weird error messages such as arthimetic errors occur within vdsobj which is quite strange seeing how little to no math is done at all within the dll.

I'll try to see if there are work-arounds though, when I original tested vdsobj02 it was within the VDS ide where the dll worked perfectly - early beta. However that last build is when I finally received a keyfile to compile with and then started noticing that errors started occuring, but it's random. Sometimes I get errors, sometimes I don't. I can send that compiled exe to people and some never even get the program to execute, while others get it to work and then theres another group of people who get random error messages.

Like I said we are all looking for a way to fix this. This is the exact reason why VDS 5 was delayed for around 3 weeks before it was finally distributed a few days ago, unfortunately we have yet to find a fix yet.
