VDSCIMG V1.2
VDS 5 compatibility
Removed vertical bar character from event names for compatibility with VDS 5
VDSCSCROLL V1.2
Renamed from VDSCSCRL to VDSCSCROLL for less confusion
VDS 5 compatibility
Removed vertical bar character from event names for compatibility with VDS 5
Apparently if an event name contains a vertical bar, VDS 5 truncates it starting from
the vertical bar character.

VDSIMAGE V1.4:
Added compatibility with VDS 5;
reduced buffer size to 2 kB;
allowed for unlimited function result length;
fixed a problem with resizing the image (automatically or manually using DLL IMAGE, WIDTH or DLL IMAGE, HEIGHT) that painted the background the last used color rather than just white.
Only one DLL to go still: VDSBIN. I hope to finish that one today as well. |

And finally :
VDSBIN V1.3:
Added compatibility with VDS 5;
reduced buffer size from 64 kB to 2 kB;
allowed for unlimited function result length;
made DLL FILEIO, WRITE command and @DLL(FILEIO, READ) function more reliable and faster;
changed the behavior and syntax of DLL FILEIO, OPEN, but backward compatibility is still in place.

Please do realize that it will still take up to a week or more until the new complete package
will be available and until the custom VDSDLL generation service will be using the new DLLs.

Tommy - I have a VDS4 program that used vdsiping.dll v2.0.0.0 and I'm updating some of it's functions and want to use VDS5. I've downloaded the updated v2.2.0.0 of the .dll, but when I load it with the External command I get the following message:
VDSDLL
This is a demonstration version of the VDSDLL. It is non-redistributable and only for personal use.
Please contact Tommy Sools if you aren't the original author of this file:
Am I doing something wrong ? Many thanks for all your work on updating the .dll files for VDS5.

Hi Dave,
this is because the vdsdll3 is a shareware dll... I've searched trough the registered users database, and I couldn't find you name, so it looks that you haven't registered it
The message you describe is to prevent that an exe which uses a part of the vdsdll3 or the whole dll is distributed without having payed for the extension... It is impossible to call the dll unregistered from a exe anyway.
Regards,

Hmmmm....OK....somehow I must have been able to download a copy of just VDSIPING.DLL from VDSWorld.com a long time that was a full version and didn't pop up the registration message so I thought it was freeware.
I used it in September 2002 when I updated my "Whats my IP address" script from using VDSPING.DLL, so that's the timeframe that the "free" version was on VDSWorld. I didn't realize it was part of a bigger, registration required .DLL file because I never got a registration message.
I'll go through the registration process and take the time to investigate the other functions, too. Thanks.

Hello Dave.
Thank you for registering the VDSDLL 3. The file you downloaded back then is indeed
freeware, it could still freely be used. It won't work with VDS 5 however, the only VDS 5
compatible version of VDSIPING.DLL is shareware.

I uploaded a new version of VDSDB: version 2.3.
http://www.vdsworld.com/vdsdll/vds5/vdsdb.dll
Although this version has existed for a little while already, it wasn't released to the
public before now.
It fixes various problems introduced in version 2.1:
Fixed problem if retrieving field data with NULL content;
fixed problem if retrieving data of numeric types. |

Hi Tommy,
here are some suggestions when you have free time of course, to update VDSFLIST and VDSLIST:
VDSFLIST:
- Support for multiple mask searches at the same time
VDSLISTS:
- Color / font styles for the headers of the collist
- Flat style for the main collist and combo
I know we already discussed this, but it was just a reminder. |
