OK, there's a bug in VDS5 when if you add a Scope Element,

If you try to hide the scope element, it does not hide.

A workaround I have been given, is to reposition it using:

to simulate HIDE
dialog setpos,scope,2000,2000,0,0

to simulate SHOW
dialog setpos,scope,%%original position,,%%original position,100,40
