Here's a site I found with many examples that I think wouldn't be
too hard to convert to VDS 5 code with some work, some are really
interesting... worth a look Smile

http://abstractvb.com/

The code easier to convert to VDS would be in the System/API code
category:

http://abstractvb.com/code.asp?F=53

That looks like a cool site. There is one example that would be EXTREMELY helpful to me:

http://abstractvb.com/code.asp?F=53&P=2&A=849

It is the example of having a hotkey that can perform a function in your program, even if the user is in another application.

Does anyone with more API experience know if this is possible to convert for use in VDS?

You know about the HOTKEY command in VDS 5 I assume, and I also
assume you're using VDS 4 or below? Smile

I'll take a look and see what I can do. Wink

Well, you learn something new every day. I have been using VDS5, but I had just assumed that the HOTKEY was just active when the VDS program had focus.

I ran a short test, and it does work no matter what program you are in. That will be very helpful to me. Thanks for the tip!

I had put up a getkeystate example that helps you get status of any key including shift CAPS lock Ctrl Alt. So under a timer you can make hotkey for any button including the special hotkeys on a multimedia keyboard !!.
I will consider an example of using play ,pause stop keys if possible.
