Just fixed it. The '>' you put in front off all your program names was causing the problem

A few questions:
1) Why were my programs removed from the site?
2) Shouldn't it be possible to sort programs by author?
3) How do I access the statistics page? (or did you remove it?)
Globally, I liked the old VDSWorld better, after I gave it some thought. This one works better and is more functional, and I suppose it's easier to add stuff too, and it has the advantage of the single-login thing and the improved news system... But the older one had a better design and the layout was more simple, so it was easier to find stuff. Or perhaps I was just used to it. |

1) Your programs aren't removed, but they are hidden because we would like to have all downloads on the VDSWORLD server, to prevent not-working links. If you go to the main site and click the "Your Files" link, you can reupload the hidden files to the VDSWORLD server, so after which they will work again... (Btw. you should have got an E-mail about that... )
2) To view all the files of an author, you can simple follow the link in his forum profile, or click on the "View all files" link when viewing one of the author's files.
3) You can access the statistics page here: http://www.vdsworld.com/author/stats.php
About the design, I think most of us where just used of it... But I also think this design is easier to understand, since it has a more distinct menu... _________________ [ Add autocomplete functionality to your VDS IDE windows! ]

hi vic,
i worked out what the problem was...when a user downloads a file, it is downloaded with the name of the file that i as an author entered...not as the name of the file that i uploaded
consequently, can i suggest that in the new file section, that a note be made to only use alphanumeric characters for the name of a file
thanks

Thanks for the suggestion Serge I'll implement it when I get home. Or perhaps Sjoerd could do it right now.
And don't forget to re-enable your file when you uploaded it again, Protected.

This should be possible. I'm very busy with school and my little brother is having his birthday on Thursday... so I don't have much time .
But I'm sure I've some spare time in the weekend though.

I miss the Hotlink for Recent Files which used to take you to a date ordered list of recent files...
Is this going to be included in the new site? _________________ Andrew GRAY

Sorry, but I never had my programs anywhere other than in the vdsworld server (protected@vdsworld.com). Even if they were in my server (protected@myshelter.net) they'd still be in prakash's server 2.
EDIT: Also, there should be a link for the statistics page somewhere (right?) |

Oops, I should have explained a bit better. All downloads should be uploaded at the VDSWORLD main site. About your other question, your stats can be found [ here ]. This link can be found at the main page of VDSWORLD, unbeneath the Authors menu section... _________________ [ Add autocomplete functionality to your VDS IDE windows! ]

This is a step backwards... Not only it is a waste of space but it forces us to keep two copies of the file. Two copies to update when an update is required, annoying for people in slow connections... It is a restrictive feature too. Didn't the site work good with the old method? |
