This has got to be the coolest thing ever. After always using Windows and never even
trying something such as Linux, I got a copy of Linux called "Knoppix"; a friend gave me a cd.
He downloaded a copy off of their web site and put it on a CD so I have a version that is
bootable from CD. It's absolutely amazing. I can test everything out etc. without having to
worry about messing up anything since it doesn't write to the hard drive as this is a trimmed
down demo version of it. But it's still got everything.

The one thing you miss out on testing, which was my hang up with Linux, is the file system. Even just installing things can be a hassle.
I tried DemoLinux first(http://www.demolinux.org) which is a bootable Linux CD download like you have. Then tried Fedora RedHat.. I didn't really gain anything over XP so I'm sticking with it for now.

Yeah its pretty cool. But I almost had a heart attack when I was switching
back to Windows. I turned on the good ol' Dell and nothing happened. Wink

Turns out I just needed to unplug it and plug it back in, probably the power
management wasn't compatible, and it confused my computer.

Well thank God because everything's fine now. Very Happy And I think it's time to
start backing up. I've got 15 GB of photos that I wouldn't want to ever lose. Wink

:-O Sorry for reviving an old topic, but I just read it for the first time... Now... 15 GB of photos? WOW! That's a lot! That would leave no room for PROGRAMS in my miserable 20gb HD... You should get a DVD recorder ^_^

Good thing I've got an 80 GB hard drive... I've got a spacious 11 GB left
on it. Mr. Green

I've got a nice Sony DVD recorder. But I don't delete any of my photos
because it's always nice to have a second copy. Wink I really love my
Canon Powershot A70. Very Happy
