hi vo,

from memory, the personal edition is free to use given certain conditions and one of them is that you can't compile programs with it...you can only run them from within the vds interface

may be someone else can confirm this

That is correct Serge. Also there is not EXTERNAL command so you cannot load VDS DLL's and there is no @lib function so you cannot load regular DLL's either. Basicly it is VDS 4.x without the ability to extend it but it is an interpreter so you can just double click on the source file and the script will execute. This means that if you create a shortcut to the *.ds source files and doubleclick on the shortcut the script will execute without the editor running.
I tried to attach a *.lnk and *.ds file to this message as an example but the forum would not allow it Sad Also the forum automagicly resolves *.lnk files to the location where the *.lnk file is pointing or maybe it's Internet Explorer? Sad So I attached a *.zip file which has the *.lnk file inside. Extract the *.lnk file to your desktop and doubleclick on the *.lnk file to see an example of what I am talking about. You will need Personal VDS installed in it's default location.

SysInfo.zip
 Description:
Has shortcut to the sysinfo.ds file in the examples folder of Personal VDS.

If you are looking for the shareware version of VDS then you need to get the latest version which is version 5. You can get it at www.dialogscript.com

Vao,
It would not have mattered because VDS 4 would have cost the same if it was still being offered.
