hi dr dread,

i am using your timedate.dll in one of my programs, specifically the function @TIMEDATE(WEEKDAY,...)

a couple of users have reported an error 27 at the line in my code that makes use of that function and i have come across that error too

the problem is that it is a very intermittent problem in the sense that all could be fine for 3 hours and then the error comes up

the line of code that i am using is:

Code:
%%weekday_number = @timedate(WeekDay,@datetime(yyyy),@datetime(mm),@datetime(d))

my program cycles through that line of code twice per second and i am using the @TIMEDATE(WEEKDAY,...) function to determine the current day number of the week in order to have my program work with any language as it needs to know which day "today" is when it is running

have you come across this error? any ideas what could be behind it and how to work around it?

i thought of, and have not tested it yet, perhaps determining the date using @DATETIME() then wait .2 seconds for vds to process the date and then feed the info into @TIMEDATE as i thought that may be a null entry is fed into @TIMEDATE every so often...but this is just a guess and i have no idea

thanks

serge

hi Serge!

Bad news. Error 27 is a DLL crash - it shouldn't crash just from being fed a null value or something.

Which version of the DLL are you using? Early versions had a buffer problem that sometimes triggered
an error 27. But I haven't seen any error 27 the latest versions nor heard of any such problem. Latest official
version should be 1.4, but I have 1.6 here (unreleased) - can send it to you if you want.

hi dr dread,

i don't know what version i have and i can't find a way of working it out - i have the date stamp which is 3 january 2004

i will download the version available from vdsworld and see if it has a more recent date stamp - i see that version 1.4 has the date of march 2004 so i must have an older version - i will give that one a try

thanks for your reply

serge

Hi Serge,

If Dr. Dread compiled his dll with version information in his resource file,
you can right-click on his dll in Windows Explorer and then select the
Properties menu item. You should have an applet with two tabs. Select
the tab marked Version. The first line on that tab should be the version
number of the dll. Wink

Bweckel is right. Version info is in the right-click menu.

And if you've been using v. 1 - it's one of the versions that had the buffer problem, so probably
v. 1.4 will solve it.
