Nope won't run on those. Those devices do not use the intel chipset and require typically Visual C++ or Visual Basic to develop on. There is a slight change in the header of the executable and many windows api's were removed and special ones added in.
While it's labled 'Windows' it has absolutely no backwards compatibility for software with desktop versions of Windows. |

You can download Microsoft Visual C++ CE for free from Microsoft's website.
It compiles to PocketPC format.
PGWARE, Intel does have a few chips in some brand PocketPC's
Dell Axim X's series uses Intel CPU's. So does many other highbrand PocketPC's. _________________

I meant the intel x86 chipset; not necessarily the intel brand |

| It appears there actually is a version of CE for the x86 chipset afterall but it won't run typical Windows apps; I suspect the chipset only has a subset of the instruction set that runs on desktop/notebook versions of Windows. |

Yeah I know what you ment
I had a Dell Axim X5 some time ago. I miss that so much. Hopefully I'm gonna get the new Qtek 9090 for x-mas but I doubt it. But, if anyone wants to make a donation.... hehe _________________

Why did you get rid of the Axim? I ask because I'm pondering about getting one myself; I've been looking into gettin one of these devices for some time and was choosing if I should get an HP IPaq or a Dell Axim.
I really like the DELL brand as I just got a new Dell Inspiron 700m; but I've heard from people that the Axim screens crack too easily. |

Yeah and I also said I miss it alot.
I needed tha money for a short ammount of time and got a good offer for it, so I sold it actually for alittle more than I payed for it new from Dell. I have never had any problems with it, allthough I treated it pretty good Always had it in the leather case it came with.
I have a iPaq 1940 here, it's abit smaller in size and power, a friend gave it to me and it seems to be locked. Can't even use the screen. And the guy who gave it to me says it's in French.
Even my girlfriend want me to get another PDA because my life is so disorganized now after I sold the Axim. It's like you get seriously hooked on it, it's like a drug, without the negative sides _________________
