Hi Tdk161

First of all my compliments on your ExtHelp, it's a good idea and a great help working from the VDS IDE.
At first it didn't show the icons in the list correctly after startup and I wanted some (minor) refinements so I changed your program a little bit.
Since it's your program I'm sending you my version so you can look how I changed it.

For me ExtHelp is a great addition to VDS and will stay on my hard disk.

Very Happy

Oh, I just forgot to mention that your Gmail account doesn't seem to be working.
I send the zip file via mail to your Gmail account but it bounced with a message from Gmail that tdk161 not an existing account.

I made another small change to ExtHelp ........
In the list ExtHelp now uses two icons, one for .hlp files and one for .chm files.
Nothing big or important, just to dress up the program a bit more.
Very Happy

In an effort to save bandwidth, I am curious as to VDSIPP can deflate content/URLs downloaded served by Apache with mod_gzip turned on ? Or maybe I can download my data with a call to URLMON.DLL ?

Tdk,
What is this for? I am confused about how to use this as I have never used VDSObj or VDSDll? I know if you take a shortcut to a help file and place it in the same folder as VDS was installed it will show up in the help menu of the VDS IDE.

<it will show up in the help menu of the VDS IDE>

I never knew that the Vds IDE had that functionality, but it sure works.
Still I do like tdk's solution too.

Jan,
It has been a part of VDS I think since VDS 2.x. In VDS 5 and maybe 4.x you can place a shortcut to a URL in the VDS folder and that shortcut will show up in the Help menu. I have the links to VDSWorld.com in mine Wink Also for those that don't know you can place a Exe in the tools folder under the folder you installed VDS in and the Exe will show up on the Tools menu.

I knew about adding tools to the tools menu but never heard about the same trick for help files.
Which shows that the old saying is still true: "You're never to old to learn new tricks"

What prog do you mean?
He means the VDS IDE itself, placing shortcuts to hlp or chm files in the same folder as VDS is installed adds those help files in the VDS help menu.
For your own VDS programs "shell open" should be enough to open help files.
