Hi all,
I've just upgraded my OS to WinXP Pro. With earlier versions of Windows
we were able to edit and maintain our own internet links (.url) files. For
reasons unknown to me, Windows Explorer, and VDS for that matter, both
report the existance of (.url) files in the Favorites folder. With Windows
Explorer I get an error message reporting that the specified file is not a
valid file. With VDS, I use the list loadfile, command and it seems to load
but when you try to view the contents of the file, nothing's there?
I don't get it. A internet shortcut is basically an inifile saved with a .url
extension. Nothing special. Why can't I edit them. grrrrrrrrrrrr!
Any thoughts, etc. would be greatly appreciated. _________________ Bill Weckel

That's pretty odd.. I hadn't tried it before.
You can use 'Send To' to send it to Notepad. _________________ -Sheep

Well, I think I figured some of it out. One was an 'EditFlags' setting in the
registry for 'InternetShortcut'. The other is that apparently not all internet
shortcuts files are the same. For example, the shortcut I have for VdsWorld
is actually a JavaScript that is ran from the VdsWorld server.
This is off the top of my head. As I get a chance to throw some more
info together, I will post it here as well. _________________ Bill Weckel
