Need example for VDS and/or *.dll to create vds browser window..

Just a vds window that will point to specfic http location for viewing
contents.

Specific thoughts are for "Commercial/Advertising Window" for Shareware Progs!

Try VDSELM.DLL from S.A.D.E for a browser element

You can get it from the registered area of www.dialogscript.com

Or try vdshtml.dll, which is freeware and which is OK although it is not complete and is not being updated any more.

Well, I've only used this procedure for text-based stuff. But what's wrong with "INTERNET HTTP,DOWNLOAD" in
vdsipp.dll ? You may have to do some parsing of the HTML doc to locate image files, but it prolly can be done.

Of course, this all depends on what you want to do... VDSELM is full-fledged as it is plugging into the MSIE
core. The other solution will be a greater challenge Wink

and may only be feasible for web pages that you control
yourself.

I purchased Vdselm.dll and it works great!

Is there a way to code the Vdselm.dll to check for ONLINE status

and if ONLINE, open vds browser window to online html page,

If not on line, open vds browser window to C:\anywhere\html file?

You might take a look at http://www.vdsworld.com/index.php?page=download&fileid=176, but it isn't always reliable because it checks for an IP Address, and if you are using a LAN, you will have one wether you are online or offline. Sad

The source code is included with that DLL. Very Happy

It shows as being online if IP address is present...
Too many users are now on home networks!

Continued suggestions are welcomed!

There must be a way around this problem?

If I were you I'd use vdsipp.dll to try to get the header of the on-line help file. If OK, then go ahead and load it in VDSELM,
if not then load the local version.

VDSIPP doesn't cache any remote files locally, so Dr. Dread's suggestion would probably work.

Of course still, the user might be using a proxy server which caches the files but I really
think that in case that the files are being served through the cache that's almost the same
as being online in this case.
