Skit,
Thanks for the code buddy!
VDSUser,
That's a great tip! One thing I like about it, is that there are alot of useful strings for associated with a certain software, like program version and author.
One tricky thing though in regards to Acrobat Reader though, is that if you install Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Full Version, you can find each separate program under App Paths. However, when you install both Adobe programs on your system, there is only one uninstaller for both, being Acrobat Full Version. So if you uninstall Acrobat Full Version, it will also uninstall Acrobat Reader. If you wanted to detect both programs, you would have to look ubder App Paths, instead of Uninstall
But thanks very much for the tip. It will be useful for detecting other kinds of installed programs, and even maybe retrieve other info like version info.

Hey Geotrail!

VDS is a honey of a program. And a great user community too.
Hehe. With all these MMBers coming here, I'm gonna get confuzed what message board i'm in.

Yeah, that's true.
And VDS is so much faster then MMB with large scripts. You just can't live without it
I'm just waiting for VDS 5 to be released, then I'm gonna buy that and concentrate on that. I've been in the MMB scene for so many years now and think it's about time to do something different
But offcourse, I ain't gonna leave MMB. Can't leave my baby like that _________________

Its funny I left aside the MMB community right after Ive discovered VDS, I then made a complete MP3 player with VDS to mimic the one I already had made in MMB... Of course it took longer to do in VDS but there's so much possibilities and flexibility. After that I realized VDS is less multimedia ready than MMB... . So I decided to create multimedia extensions (plugins) for VDS: VDSMEDIA (Video, audio playback, slideshow, etc...), VDSPDF (Adobe Acrobate), VDSSURFX (IE Browser object) and VDSSWFLA (Macromedia Flash object which was coded initially by Tommy)
But 2 months ago a hacker created a keygen for theses DLLs had to remove then from the internet. Sales were really bad also. They will be re-released soon tho, but will be sold to valid registered users of VDS ONLY and prices will change also.
Now Im more on the MMB forums than here since march, cause Im doing an MMB project and using the new MMB version (which Im personnaly disapointed by the performance and the new FMOD engine) plus some new great plugins.
Im very happy that more and more MMBers are using VDS... I always thought that VDS + MMB was a perfect match...

That's a shame marty.
I'm looking for a html object extension for VDS, could I send you an email when I have bought VDS 5? _________________

Hey Guys,
MMB has a bright future. MMB 5.0 is going to have some big time changes. And MMB has a dev team now.
But VDS rocks, no doubt about it. And I think its awesome Marty that you make all those VDS extensions.
One thing I dont like about FMOD is that you get FMOD warning messages on old machines that have old sound cards when you want to run multiple MMB apps at the same time. That is a real problem for me. And the MMB designer crashes more now. But other than that, I am very happy with the new Flash Object. And of course the great 4.8 udates that led to 4.9, like loading images externally and alpha buttons, which are very powerful and useful features.
Nonetheless, VDS is stronger on the programming side, and combined with MMB's great graphics capabilities, its a powerful duo.
Sorry to hear about the crackers Marty. If you protect your Dlls with Armadillo, I highly doubt anyone will hack your stufff again. Its very secure software, and they make updates all the time to batttle the crackers.

There are decompressors for almost every version of Armadillo and a new one comes out after every update. It is a deterent... but it will not protect a program from a determined cracker. _________________ "ah, come take my hand... we're ridin' out tonight to face the promised land"

Yeah, like everything, nothing is totally crack proof. That's why they have updates.
I may have over emphasized its security. But it would be hard to find a better product. If you know of one, please let me know.
The same story goes for radar and radar detection technology. As a new radar gun comes out, so does a new radar detection device.
The funny thiny thing about radar technology though, is that the same companies that make radar guns also make radar detection devices. lol

Security is futile with computers.... The best you can do is just make it
harder for them to bust your stuff open.
Changing your routines with every update and upgrade. Keeps the
honest people honest, and makes the dishonest bust their nuts keeping
up with your changes.

Yeah but don't you then have to create new keys for everybody? I mean,
if you change the routine the old key won't process correctly. _________________ FreezingFire

I think he ment the way you encode the keys...
Like changing this:
| Code: |
%%key = @iniread(key,number)
%%key = @fadd(%%key,15)
if @equal(%%key,30)
info Registrated user!
end
|
Into this:
| Code: |
%%key = @iniread(key,number)
if @equal(@succ(@pred(@diff(%%key,-15))),@fadd(20,10))
info Registrated user!
end
|

If it means sending out new keys, then yes. You have to do what you
have to do to try and keep your software safe. I think even PK does
this with his software.
