I'd like to see a real richedit object (in VDS 6 would be cool)
All major programming languages have richedit controls - it also would
be cool to have real menus with glyph and check and disabled support
directly in VDS 6.
Just food for thought. _________________ FreezingFire

| CodeScript used vdsug.dll since it allowed for more paramaters to be sent via the Windows API. VDS 5.01 now allows more params to be sent so you can use the richedit via API without any dll's. |

Hi Skit
You can use that richedit example now with no need for vdsug.
I may update it when I am free.
It doesn't support OLE interface for images and other objects.
I think the same is true in the FREE version of the dll skit mentioned.
I had once thought of adding a transparent richedit object into my dll
but again transparency and imges don't go hand in hand. _________________ Regards

Just having richedit without any ole and images etc would be a useful
thing for us. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

| Everyone here is anti - vdsobj? It has a richedit control as well that supports OLE, hyperlinks and on the fly formatting. |

No I'm not anti-vdsobj, I even own a copy; it's just an alternative being discussed.
Don't take it personally. Hobbyist programmers who didn't buy it before the
price went up might want to find something less expensive... _________________ FreezingFire

Not so much anti-vdsobj... More like, trying to keep the final outcome
of my programs as small as possible. I'm always trying to find
alternatives to having to distribute extra items with my programs. If
there isn't an alternative, then of course I would gladly use a dll such
as one of yours _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

The same for me Prakash... Whenever I find API code to use for example TCP/IP functionality, I just want to try if I can get it working... All programs I have made which other people use, do use your or Tommy's internet dll, because I think it is much more stable... _________________ [ Add autocomplete functionality to your VDS IDE windows! ]

What does everyone think of $10 for a RichEdit DLL? Should be around 10k when finished.
If it's worth it to you guys I can hopefully make it happen soon.
A few planned commands(pretty self-explanatory):
| Code: |
-CREATE
-REMOVE
-SETTEXT
-LOAD
-SETSEL
-SETALLFONT
-SETSELFONT
-SETALLCOLOR
-SETSELCOLOR
-SETBKCOLOR
-CUT
-COPY
-PASTE
-DELETE
-UNDO
-PRINT
|
A few planned functions:
| Code: |
-GETSEL(START and END)
-GETSELTEXT
-CANUNDO
|
There will end up being quite a bit more than that, but that's a good start.
Let me know what you think(No..really ) _________________ -Sheep

In no way am I trying to bash your initiative to create a new DLL, but
frankly I'm happy with vdsobj for using richedits & vds
Although others might not agree. But that's just my honest opinion. _________________ FreezingFire

I have updated my Richedit code to a DSU for VDS 5.01 - no dll needed.
It's barebones Richedit - No Image/OLE Support.
Get it here:
RichEdit DSU has been taken down.
The dsu is no more available for download. I don't encourage use of any downloaded copies in your fresh projects either _________________ Regards

PK,
Personally I think we have too many free loaders on this site Hobbiest programmers my foot If you spend more than 10hours a week for a so called hobby then you prob. should start looking into making it a profession... I see no reason to keep reinventing the wheel. Also many of the DLL builders here are getting concerned with the lack of interest in their DLL's. I for one cannot see a reason to keep updating DLL's and code that is not going to be appreciated. What's the point of writting a quality piece of software if no one wants it or if everyone is constantly looking for ways to debunk it. IMHO the users of this forum should look for ways to support each other instead of trying to find ways to make eachothers work obsolete. The price of our DLL's are high because we don't get the volume or demand for them that we need to keep upgrading them. If there was more users willing to purchase them then I am pretty sure that the prices would come down. The price reflect the amount of time and effort it takes to make this stuff not some vane attempt to rob someone I get upset when I see messages like this. We need more interest guys! Not people saying they will not pay.... The DLL programmers went out of their way to make there DLL's work with VDS 5 and they should be shown a little appreciation for it.
Sorry this is a sensitive subject.... I would say that if you want to keep VDSWorld alive then support each other _________________ Home of
