Still off topic,
Once FF sees your reply PGWare I'm sure he will(or would have if I hadn't sad anything, most likely) all the sudden see your point and agree.
I see this happen quite a bit and think maybe people need to sit back and think about the whole situation before they act.
This is not a personal attack on FF, but hopefully it makes the right people think and not act so quickly or hastily in the future.
WoRm-X wasn't even welcomed to the forum before his name was stolen from him..shouldn't a welcome be a Site Team Member's first job?
I believe (most)people deserve the benefit of the doubt, which is also why I haven't said anything until now.
I'll be happy to take this up in private with anyone that feels I should, so this topic isn't locked like so many others. _________________ -Sheep

But where do you draw the line, when VDSworld is destroyed by the ugly of the world..
So I have to agree with Mindpower and FF.
And I think we all know when he made that name his doggy wasnt draging his butt across the carpet
I'm sure Worm X is smart enough to know this is nothing personal against him at all, just a nic-trousidy...
3 against (malicious names)
2 for (malicious names)
Your inviting more when you get too nice with names, next you'll see vile names posibly if you don't draw a line somewhere.
Just my own old fashion worthless theory(besides, I haven't been here long enough to really say anything) |

For what it's worth, I'm with the team on this. First impressions are important. If you want the professional users to be in this forum (and I think professional users are important for the future of VDS), it's better not to allow names that look like they belong in a hackers' forum. Casual browsers aren't going to read every posting and analyze the code to see if it is benign or not.
Just my opinion. _________________ The Tech Pro

The idea to change the name did not come to me by myself. I will gladly
change it back should the public make the decision. I am not trying to be
a mean/forceful person, and I will let the public make the decision. Or
another team member can change it should they make a decision.
I'm just trying to preserve the image of vdsworld, and since at least two
people have complained, it seems that a name change would be
necessary. The reason I did act in the first place was to satisfy the users
who thought it necessary to change the user's handle, personally I
agreed, however, I agree that I did act hastily on this. My overall
experiences, and not necessarily at vdsworld, with hackers has been bad;
I am not very tolerating of them.
I'm going to leave this up to another team member to make a decision
since I don't want to make any more trouble; I'm sorry if this seemed to
be an act of personal influence, but again as I said before, I did this
primarily for the community of vdsworld. _________________ FreezingFire

To help the issue, I changed the name back to 'worm-x' but it does not
have the 'hacker-type' case.
As of now I'm not going to touch the name again so as to not make any
more problems. _________________ FreezingFire

Upon worm-x / Rik's (that's his real name... ) request, I've changed his username to "Zikdalik". Please note I know him (same school, same class) and that I'm sure he has nothing to do with hacking and cracking things. He explained me that he needed the code where this topic was all about, to use some little scripts for Unreal Tournament 2004 and changing them back, because note all servers allow these kind of scripts... _________________ [ Add autocomplete functionality to your VDS IDE windows! ]

Agreed that it would be preferable to have all professional users but that never is the case with any forum. You will always have a younger crowd and at times people who are very new to the software trying things out. A nickname/handle is nothing more than that. At this stage of vds development it really wouldn't hurt getting as many people possible attracted to the product.
I'm not ready to start banning people or having them change based on their name, religion, race or anything similar to that effect. If someone is a hacker or cracker we can deal with that as it occurs.
Back to the professional appearance of the forum, have you guys taken a look at half of the profile images shown on this forum; I don't think they really show a "professional image". My profile image isn't really professional, and most certainly SnarlingSheep's profile image isn't either - it's a bit indecent if you ask me |

worm-x ( or whatever your name is ) did your question get the answer you are looking for?
p.s I see every ones point on the name, however we are forgetting about one thing did the user get the info he needs I would think it would be best to talk about the name problem in a diff topic/ forum.. I don't mean to hurt anyones feeling..i hope you understand what i mean....

Wow I did not expect all this reaction. Sorry for all of the trouble everyone. I just simply asked this person to change the Handle they were using is all. Giving that person the option to do so. I really am not trying to start trouble here but with all the issues of decompilers and keygens I just thought it was best to try to keep everyone on the up and up. I did not ask any Team member or Administrator to change anyones Handle. It just seemed suspious to me is all
Now I would like to see more professionals here at this forum since I could use the business myself This is not to say that I will only sale to professionals... hehehehe
Anyway don't go so hard on me I am still a newbie _________________ Home of
