True.... there are not that much users online at the same time (except for January 1th, there were 29 forum members online)
So I don't know if it has any use to create a chat-application...

I agree with Serge on this - some folks just don't like
stuff to open/run automatically when they visit a web
site.
A "chat" button (link, or whatever) would be better in
my opinion.
Vic brings up a good point. Also it should be made clear
that this would not be "24hr live support", so new visitors
won't be expecting something we don't provide.

Maybe a mini chat might just encourage more usage
or those who are online to stay longer.
might be worth a try

That's true... but first I've got to have a reply from dialogscript.com.
I've mailed them a few days ago to ask whether or not our chat-server could run at their Windows server But still no reply...

don't like that much it would be better if it was an option for folks to use...if it is easy to do and quick and folks have a reason to use it, then they will use it...i think that we can also expect a number of folks not to want to use it for whatever reasons...there is a difference between "chatting" online and posting to a forum

That's why I put 'force' between quotes... If anything like that is made, it should have an option to disable it, etc... _________________ [ Add autocomplete functionality to your VDS IDE windows! ]

That may not be too likely to happen. Right now, CR is in the process of
trying to get something else off the ground and their time and focus is
not with us for now. It may be some time before you get a response to
something like that from them.
And I don't have access to all their servers and locations, so I could not
authorize this personally.
I myself have thought of this before since I've made my own chat servers
before. But due to the limited access and communications with CR, I
decided it was not a good choice for such a project.
You may want to consider something else.
Even if CR's attention was more on VDS right now, history shows that
when they previously ran an IRC server, that only a small (and I mean
small) group of VDS users ever used it. Can you guess who they
where? First person to name the small group that used the IRC the
most gets the last 40 cents in my paypal account. _________________ 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' - Confucius (550 b.c. to 479 b.c.) |

You're exactly right, Serge. I'm not expecting too many people chatting
at once but it might be a nice feature for those who would like to chat. _________________ FreezingFire
