I'm probably not the first to discover this, but after using XP System Restore to undo some Registry changes that hadn't worked, I discovered that I'd lost the last couple of days work on some VDS programs. I was able to get them back to how they were the night before, from my backup, but I lost a few changes I'd made that morning prior to doing the restore. What was even more frustrating was that I've been developing an app that automatically makes a copy of every file of a selected type that has changed, so that you can revert to any previous state, and it had removed all the .DSC backups from this backup folder as well.

I've failed to find a way to remove .DSC files from the list of types monitored by System Restore, so it seems that the only solutions are either to develop stuff under My Documents, which SR apparently ignores, or to create a new partition that isn't monitored by SR and do your VDS work there.

Probably the best solution would be to backup all of your DSC files before
using System Restore.
