CodeScript, I want to thank you for your help on the forums, especially
for helping me. Your api calls for the keys helped me on a current
project, and it helped me complete a program I had to set aside back
in 2001 because VDS nor any dll could do what I needed. And that
was, when the shift key was pressed, determine if CAPS LOCK was on,
and if so, turn it off before the user started typing. Tommy and Prakash
both made dlls for me and we could only get them to work when our own
dialog was the active dialog and the mouse was over our own dialog.

It's still kind of the same story, but at least now with the use of the api
calls you helped me with, I was finally able to overcome this problem,
and this simple little nothing program finally works!!

Still a few little bugs to work out, but it works~!

I wonder how many other old projects I can bring back to life and
complete now due to the api calls and the help you've given us on
using api calls.

Thank you! Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

I also want to drop some long overdue thank you notes to:

Tommy (for all his help and dlls here over the years and years!)
Prakash (for all his help and dlls here over the years and years!)
DragonSphere (for all his help here and his dlls)
Mac (Piss me off at times, but you're still a damn good guy and helpful)
FreezingFire
Skit3000
Serge
Dr. Dread
LiquidCode
.....And many others whom I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention.

There's a log of excellent people here who help others, and that's rare
for such a small community. Typically you see one or two who are
always helping in a small community like this, but we are graced with
so many them. Smile

Thanks to all of you for giving your time, your knowledge and efforts
to help out not only me, but anyone else who's asked for help here.

Hi Garrett
Glad to help.
The real credit goes to Julain for providing the API functionality in VDS Smile

thanks garrett...i do what i can with the little time i have but you are right about the number of people prepared to help others on this forum (and the length they will sometimes go to to help someone) + the number of folks who have written great dll's and now dsu's to extend the capabilities of vds...for example, codescript has made it possible for me to add features to my competition entry to make my program that much better, prakash with vdsobj.dll and lots of others that i can't remember off the top of my head

codescript certainly has opened up a new area of vds programming and is a great addition to this forum...i don't get the intricacies of api calling but from the posts i have read, i know that many have benefited from his knowledge

another one i think deserves special mention is jules...it has been great to have on the forum someone who is involved with the development of vds as it helps us get the inside story of whatever

one more if i may...freezingfire has really been on fire since the unfortunate event that took place a while back and has really worked hard to help as many folks as possible by answering so so so many posts

i have noticed also that the forum team has become more tight (in a good way) and has made the forum a better and more efficient place...they come across as being very dedicated to this forum...which is great!!!

I'd like to add my thanks, too. I never imagined when I added the API capability to VDS 5 that anyone would take the trouble to research and publish so much useful material using it. My own apps now have functionality that, without CodeScript's contributions, I'd have simply accepted that you couldn't do in VDS. Many, many thanks, CodeScript!

I think most people like to help here, because the help is appreciated. On other communities, people just say "thank you" and disappear, but here people are willing to help somebody else if they know something other peoples don't know... Smile
