The AMD chip in respect to 64 bit is the better chip. Because it provides native 32 bit backwards compatibility directly; whereas Intel doesn't. MS has to provide a workaround for the Intel 64 bit chips to allow 32 bit apps to run.

Also AMD has been in the 64 bit chip market a little longer than Intel.

Intel use 32bit with EM64T commands

Pentium 4 series 6 is 32bit with EM64T commands


Pentium 4 630 3.00 GHz 2MB cache out Q1'05 with EM64T
Pentium 4 580J 4.00GHz 1MB cache Cancelled
