I need some beta testers for my new app, Fast Protect. It is a folder/portable media protector. It protects files from being copied, deleted, edited even seen. It does not have encryption (yet), but it works very well so far.
Please go to http://cgs.vdsworld.com/fastprotect to download and for more information.

I really need this tested a lot and some good input if you can. Smile

Thank you!

Hi Chris Smile
Cool idea, but how to remove protection and restore original state of folder?

I think add a button to uninstall folder protection and add possibility to choose virtual drive letter (not only Z) will be more usefull

Thanks

When folder is protected, just run Fast Protect.exe and enter the password again (un-check the use virtual drive). Folder will then be restored.

The drive letter is automatically chosen based on available drives. Since it only is while Fast Protect is running, this made it smoother than asking for a drive letter. I can make that an option though.

Just run Fast Protect.exe and enter your password. Un-ckeck use virtual drive, then the folder will be put back to the way it was. You can then delete Fast Protect.exe.

Here is a video showing it.

Another request: Can someone test how this looks at different resolutions? If any of the text is cut off etc.

Thanks

Update:
- fixed a few bugs.
- added option to add Fast Protect to the folder context menu.
- added optional password hint
- If a file is created in the same folder as the Fast Protect.exe called "USB Owner Info.txt" it is not touched (protected). This was added if a USB stick (or portable media) is lost you can add your info so it can be returned.

Update:

- Now allows you to choose the virtual drive letter or have it choose for you (AUTO)
- If the Fast Protect.exe process is ended (kill process or end task) while the virtual drive is still mounted, it should now still dis-mount the virtual drive for added security.

Update: (Good time to test the update feature) Smile

- Made a change to the virtual drive function. Once the virtual drive is mounted Fast Protect will be closed. The virtual drive will remain until the first initial window showing the virtual drive is closed. Once that is closed the virtual drive will be removed.

See the Virtual Drive video on the help page.

Has anyone else given this a try? Just curious on people's thought on it.

Thanks!

If the folder is protected you cannot delete it, that is part of the protection. You must first unprotect the folder, then you can delete it.
