Prakash! I think that you should go and work for Commercial Research - then perhaps we could get that VDS
update Rolling Eyes

Yeah BUT CR should release it Rolling Eyes
I think the already completed update is undergoing maturation like Old wine Confused
And I don't think reporting/asking anything there (for ordinary people like me) makes more sense than sending query straight to trash can. I never recieved any reply till date except for registration. I don't like to say that here but sorry..
Well it may also be that they don't like me Rolling Eyes

Obviously the problem isn't the update not existing, it's just not being released. The
best people could work for Commercial Research, still the update wouldn't have been released.

Does anybody know the reason(s) the update has not been released yet? Perhaps CR is adopting the M$ mentality of releasing a "Service Pack" after a year... if so then we have a good 7-8 months left. Confused

The next version has been tested by various people, so it's surely
existing. As soon as you think you're ready to release it, something
new comes up. It happens to be that way when you're managing
something as complicated as VDS 5. Smile

Let's be patient. Wink

While I wouldn't mind to work for CR/Sade I would be completely lost with the VDS 5 code, it would take several months just to learn what most of the code did before even attempting to fix anything. Assuming they would even hire me; that and since I don't speak French I don't think I'd be much help to them Wink Plus while there is nothing wrong with France or the UK I'd rather be here in the US closer to family.

Getting back to reality Smile the vds 5 update should be out soon, I talked to the guy in charge about it about a week ago and it is being prepared for distribution, however it was delayed as I and others notified them of other bugs found that should be fixed before any patch is released.

Of the 7 emails you've sent to support to date, I personally replied to 4 of
these emails, one did not require a response back to you, and the last two
were forwarded to the appropriate person for whatever action they
may/should take.

If you would like me to send you a copy of all the emails we've exchanged,
drop me an email requesting them and I'll send them right out.

Of course, the last two emails you sent were in regards to bug reports....
I'm sure you know that I'm in the same boat as you, so am not able to
send you any satisfactory response back. But be assured, your emails
did not get deleted, and they were forwarded to the right person, whom
I do know did not delete them, but did read them. They just may not
have had a chance to reply yet.

I use yahoopops to send the mails and I have not set it to preserve a copy of the sent mails. Will do that in future.

i don't mind waiting for the update and am looking forward to see what bugs they have fixed as i too found a number of annoying bugs...i'd rather wait extra time for an update that has been thoroughly tested than one released too early with still some bugs...can you imagine the uproar if they released an update that contained old bugs and perhaps eve new ones?

i think that we should be patient and trust that they are working hard at it Very Happy

imho Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

True but I also feel that Best thing is to expose it to the field so that more people use/test and bugs if any will show up early and more easily.
But one more thing is they might be having contract (financial) problems in having need to release more as opposed to fewer updates

i understand what you are saying but i don't want to be one to test an update for bugs that i then need to report and then i have to wait for another update to be released potentially with more/less bugs that i again to test....a vicious circle

i just want a product that performs properly...preferable first time...but i know that humans are at work, hence there will be bugs...hence the need for beta testing...but personally i don't want to test a product for bugs...i don't see that as my brief

if you feel happy to do that, then good for you and may be you could ask cr whether you could become a beta tester...i guess that the more beta testers there are, the better the chances of getting all the bugs

as for their financial situation, i don't know...

Sparked up a little discuz here, huh? Well, the point I was trying to make was that we already have a program with
known bugs, some of which are severe (like the file deletion issue..). I would rather have a couple of smaller updates
fixing the most necessary issues more or less on-the-fly than wait half a year or more for big update.

That was why I made a reference to Prakash - have a look at his VDSIPP update history: bug found->bug fixed->update.
Voila!
