Quite honestly, I don't think they would just give the source code to us

I like VDS. The syntax is simple and strait forward. I dabbled in VB and I really can’t see myself spending the time or money required to be good at it. I think Commercial Research has a potential gold mine if they add a few higher end features and advertise. Most of all check out this forum for advice.

To add something positive everyone who spends there time creating DLL / DSUs for VDS has my thanks and graditude. A real life saver.

one thing they could do...and i mentioned that to codescript...is for them to work together with people like codescript so as to include all these wonderful api features that he has come up with and make all these features native to vds...wouldn't that change vds into an awesome program?

as i suggested earlier, if cr is busy with other things, why not arrange a deal with some vds users to promote/develop vds...codescript could be involved in the development (with jules if he is still interested)...geotrail could focus on the marketing (my understanding is that he is good at that)...someone else could focus on submitting vds to shareware places...someone else could focus on making the vds homepage search engine friendly and submit it to search engines...and so on...if several of us did a little bit to make vds better, then we would all win...including cr who would get more sales and who retain the rights to the vds code

whether cr would be interested in such a venture i don't know...could they be approached with such an idea? and are there folks at vds who would be able/willing to do one job (according to their abilities)? and would cr be prepared to offer something to these folks in return for their work?

i have a program that can submit software to 61 software places...i could set up the program to submit vds to these places...so called pad files are now used to submit software to places...this makes the process quick and versatile as you can change any aspect of your submission simply by changing your pad file (no need to resubmit if there is a new version or whatever)

I have always thought that VDS was one of the best-kept secrets as far as programming languages go. (Even though most will say it is not a true "language.")

There is really nothing comparable. I released my first fairly large (50+ users) app over the last year. I have heard countless comments on how good it looks, etc. And - it is relatively problem free from a support standpoint. It just works, and works well.

I think it could be much more widely known and used than it is. But I have no idea how one would go about promoting it.

Hi VDSworld users.

I can't read this thread and let you or some of you saying some things with which I disagree.

On a first place, I would like to explain how the support is handled at CR since few weeks:

When someone send a support request, it is automatically answered and forwarded to a representative. A full history is kept of all request and their answers.

Those last weeks, a message is answered in less than 48 hours.

It can't be faster as I'm now the only one to handle support.

Before to say anything, please take care of the following:

- I previously paid someone several hundred dollars each month to answer to the support requests as I was too busy to handle it by myself.

Even paying someone, it seems like some complaints of lack of support were reported. Especially in this forum (once again). I could then think "well maybe the one I pay isn't doing his job?", so I ran this new support ticket system (by the way it's written in VDS...) to ensure myself if it was true.

What I saw is that the one who was paid to make support was doing it normally, answering to all the requests he received.

Today, I answer myself regulary, but I must admit that.... I receive mainly trojan or viruses throught the support request system, something like 5/8 a day for only one support request for 2 days.

- I invested time, efforts and money since years in VDS, because I like it so much... I also supported financially several websites for the community including some years ago the VDSworld itself... Well I saw really few comments (none in fact) at this subject.

- I created a full set of tools for representatives to ensure the website (dialogscript.com) a better customer support in real time. I so asked to several people at VDSWorld if they were ok to make few support with the online system.

Some were unfortunatly too busy (really), others did their best effort, but were unable to do it in a long period.

Now believe me,VDS get sales regulary, and for a product in its range (development tools) it is not so bad. But it is not enough to actually allow a full time job on it.

I allways try to get new ideas for it and next version as I do since 1998, but I have some business to do and actually it takes near all my time.

Your comments on selling the sources or worst are useless, as probably my answer is, so simply forgot about this.

However Tommy, if you have something to say to me, do it directly by email instead of creating a thread in here. More, I suspect I know the reason you did it, but I prefer not engage a polemic with you here. I'm honnestly at your disposal to discuss anything in private with you.

For those who are sincerely VDS fans, simply be sure that VDS is alive, and will continue, in the best manner we'll be able to provide, in order to give you, as to give us, the more pleasure possible using it.

For those who are doing complaints, I don't say everything is the best it could be, but be sure that your requests will be answered if I get them, so please try to send them to me again if you didn't get any answers.

Thanks E.D. for your very lengthy and detailed reply. I think this will
clear up a lot of the issues and uncertainties with the members here. Smile

I had started to worry about if something happened to VDS because I
haven't been able to contact you. I am now assured that nothing will be
wrong. Smile

Can you please e-mail me if you have updated your contact information?
I have something happy I would like to discuss with you Smile

My e-mail is freezingfire@vdsworld.com

Thank you again Yes

Emmanuel,

Thank you for dropping in here and replying to this thread. I did not want
to say anything regarding this thread here because it was not my right to
do so.

BTW, I do still handle some of the support emails as well, and I have, as
far as I can tell, replied to every email... It may not always be a solution
to the problem, or it may not be the answer they are looking for, but they
do get a reply. Many times though I am not able to answer the question
and have to forward the email to Emmanuel to try and resolve or answer.

That of course may delay an answer or solution due to his time constraints
over the months.

I myself currently am not able to monitor the live support system, but
maybe sometime in the future I will be able to again.

And of course, I no longer reply to bug reports etc on these forums due
to my passion for getting into trouble with such threads. Twisted Evil

great to hear from you emmanuel...it's always good to hear the inside story as sometimes we ony hear one side of it all

has vds been listed in a number of shareware places in an attempt to raise its profile? if you like i can submit vds to around 50 shareware places around the world...i have a free program that enables me to do that...if you'd rather do it yourself, let me know and i will let you know where you can download the program for free...it will take a little time to do but it is really worthwhile to do

i did that with my programs and next thing i know, other shareware places were starting to list my programs without me having to do anything else

let me know...

that is great news indeed Smile

let me reassure you that i love vds...i have looked at several alternatives and always gone back to vds because it is so simple to learn and use

Sorry Ed Embarassed
I am one of the people that does some volunteer support for VDS in the live support area. I have been very busy as of late trying to finish my DLL's and several personal issues. I will be picking back up on the volunteer work for you Ed.

Garrett you are welcome to forward any of the technical questions to me as well if you like. It would not bother me at all to help you answer those questions.
