Actually I think VDS programs lend themselves very well to this kind of distribution, because the EXEs are so small. You only need to send out an EXE, perhaps as a SFX, because the user will already have the DLLs etc. It would be easy to do this by email.
But it is perhaps worth reflecting that my second most successful application, in terms of registrations, is Tech-Pro Utilities (http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/utilities.html) which is donationware. This tends to confirm what I've always felt, that users who feel software is worth something will pay for it without too much coercion, while those who use cracks and suchlike probably never will. _________________ The Tech Pro

Should be able to move it any where in the household for any member of that household. I don't think I'll ever see see beyond that concept.
Thanks again for all your help.. |
vtol777,
You make a very good point and I agree with you but if your program is being purchased by a company that has 100+ PC's I think there should be a line drawn somewhere. I would word the lic. such that your software could be installed on lets say 3-5pc's but after that your customer should purchase a site license or additional copies. _________________ Home of

Yes I have recieved extensive support questions about the things on my site but donations .......... nil grrrr
So I believe either it has to be entirely freeware(asking donations doesn't really make any sense) or a shareware.
BTW if a software restricts on certain features and asks for a donation to activate them - what do U call it _________________ Regards

I don't think you can call it a "donation" if it's required
for goods or services.
