hi all,

yesterday something weird happened on my laptop and wanted to see if anyone else had the same thing happen to them

i have a vds program that has an icon in the system tray...when the mouse is placed over the icon, certain information is displayed and when the icon is clicked a password popup appears

yesterday, the program did everything right except that the password popup would not appear...the mouse over feature worked, vds received the correct @EVENT() which was not directed to the SYSTEMTRAYCLICK label as it should ... i thought that may be something in vds crashed but there was no such signs

i decided to shutdown windows and do a fresh boot to see if it made any difference, and the program worked perfectly!!!

this has never happened to me before and am concerned given that i don't know what happened

anyone come across this "problem"?

thanks in advance

serge

it's done it again today - could not access the interface as the SYSTEMTRAYCLICK label was not accessed even though the program triggers the SYSTEMTRACYCLICK event

even rebooting the laptop did not help

this is very weird

ggrr!!!

Use TRACE to create a log of what's happening.

What code do you use as "event loop"? Maybe there's a little error in there?

hi jules,

trace shows nothing wrong and shows the program running fine, it even shows the SYSTEMTRAYCLICK being generated as an event, but the program does not go to the SYSTEMTRAYCLICK

hi skit,

i am using the same code i have been using for some time (in conjunction with a timer event)

Code:

:evloop
wait event, 0.2
goto @event()

the problem is that all of a sudden it does not work - i did some changes but not at the systemtrayclick label or at the :evloop label

besides if there was a problem there, then vds would report an error, wouldn't?

serge

Maybe you can try this, to see if it really works like you think?

Code:
:Evloop
wait event, 0.2
%%Event = @event()
if @equal(%%Event,systemtrayclick)
  info systemtrayclick label event!
end
goto %%Event

hi skit,

i did a variation of that to see if the systemtrayclick event was generated and it was

i will have another look at the spelling just in case but like i said, if there was a spelling error then vds would give an error

it does not explain why the same script worked on the one day but not later on in the same day even though i did nothing to it

well, Embarassed i feel relieved - i was concerned that vds developed some sort of allergy to my laptop

i found the problem - i inadvertently used a variable twice , with both being incompatible with each other

thanks for your help jules and skit
