I have done this on XP HOME
sloppy code but so far its worked for me
lists only the services found in Services.msc
| Code: |
Title ServicesListXP
DIALOG CREATE,New Dialog,-1,0,321,205
REM *** Modified by Dialog Designer on 2/21/2005 - 06:25 ***
DIALOG ADD,LIST,LIST1,0,0,321,205
DIALOG SHOW
%%regroot = HLM
%%regpath = SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services
list create,1
list regkeys,1,%%regroot,%%regpath
list sort,1
if @greater(@count(1),0)
list seek,1,0
repeat
%%tempname = @regread(%%regroot,%%regpath"\"@item(1),DisplayName)
if @not(@null(%%tempname))
OPTION FIELDSEP,\
parse "%%aa;%%bb;%%cc;%%dd;%%ee;%ff;%%gg",@path(@regread(%%regroot,%%regpath"\"@item(1),ImagePath))
if @null(%%aa)
#nothing
elsif @not(@equal(%%aa,drivers))
if @not(@equal(%%bb,drivers))
if @not(@equal(%%cc,drivers))
if @not(@equal(%%dd,drivers))
if @not(@equal(%%ee,drivers))
if @not(@equal(%%ff,drivers))
if @not(@equal(%%gg,drivers))
list add,list1,%%tempname
end
end
end
end
end
end
end
OPTION FIELDSEP,|
end
%n = @next(1)
until @null(@item(1))
dialog title,@count(list1)
end
:Evloop
wait event
goto @event()
:Close
exit

FreezingFire,
Have you ever found any resolution to this problem? I have been doing something similar to kOt's suggestion, but have found it to be unreliable. I did find a little piece of Delphi code that I have been trying to decypher, but I am by no means proficient in Delphi. Perhaps one of the resident experts can translate the calls to advapi32.dll into @lib() calls...
Here is the link to the code I have found:

Any comments would be appreciated...

I got the OK to have a custom dll created to be able to accomodate listing services. I'll likely also get permission to share this on this forum... I'll keep you posted... (This may take a day or two).

Hey Hooligan!
I made a DLL that also reports on Services for an app some time ago. Let me know if I can help ya.

Hi Dread,
(You certainly don't live up to your name... I don't think anyone here dreads your presence!!!)
Sure, I'd be interested! What do you have?

I have a DLL made for a custom app for a client (a project that kinda died ). Anyway, part of
that DLL will list Services (active or inactive) and/or Drivers (active or inactive). The services/drivers
part could be extracted into a new DLL. Would take a bit of work though.

Thank Dread,
Like I said earlier, I've been allotted a couple hours of development time of one of our companies s/w developers to come up with a dll. So if you feel your time is better spent on other projects (Dreadnet, etc.), then I wouldn't want to bother you... If I had no other route to go, I might ask that of you, though...
Thanks again,

| I would be interested in a dll like that and it would be great if you left it with the driver piece. |

When this dll is completed for me, I will post it as unsupported freeware, (I've been given permission by the author). In the meantime, this is what I asked for:
DLL name: SvcList.dll
The syntax that I envision using is:
%%SvcTotal = @lib(svclist,SvcTotal,int:)
returning the quanity of services found.
%%SvcCount = @lib(svclist,SvcCount,int:)
returning an int indicating the counter number for the
NextSvc function
%%NextSvc = @lib(svclist,NextSvc,str:)
returning a pipe delimited string giving me the service
name, status (running/stopped), and startup type
(boot,auto,system,manual,disabled).
Ex. - "Workstation|Started|Automatic"
There will be kernel and file system driver support included. If there are any other functions that someone may want, that I can justify, now would be a good time to suggest it.
