So, it seems that VDS is officially dead.
Would it be possible to obtain/purchase VDS 6 somewhere?
Is it going to be open source, sold, abandoned?

No, you won't be able to purchase at all now. No, it likely won't go open source either. Consider VDS simply dead and gone.

Look for alternatives to use such as:

AutoHotkey: http://ahkscript.org/
AutoIt: https://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/

I prefer AutoHotkey myself.

Also, be warned, the forum community for AutoIt can be rude and down right mean sometimes.

You might also consider looking at LiveCode(previously known as Revolution(previously known as MetaCard)): https://livecode.com/

LiveCode has a free/open source version which you can make and compile apps, but you can't sell your programs. LiveCode is also cross platform and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and is capable of creating software for Android.
