|
|
Ok, just for FreezingFire, I give one more little tid-bit....
VDS 5 supports multi-res icons. You can have an icon that contains a
16x16 icon with 16 color, 256 color, True color, and then also have a
32x32 icon with the same color setup, and a 48x48 etc....

| Are you sure about that Garret? The last time I spoke with ED he told me VDS 5 doesn't support multi-res icons, but it supports different resolution icons 48x48 etc which are single icons, not multipe icons in one .ico (multi-res). |

The beta I have supports mutli-res. I've got the following in one icon
and compiled an exe with the icon:
16x16/16
16x16/256
16x16/True Color
32x32/16
32x32/256
32x32/True Color
48x48/16
48x48/256
48x48/True Color
And no problems. Unless they've changed it since this beta I have.

[ link removed by moderator - hacking/cracking not supported on this board ]

ROFL...
Replacing a resource in an EXE is to cracking as being a script kiddie is to hacking...
Thanks for the good laugh though Mr. Mod. |

And both are usually illegal...
Although I'm not the one that removed the link, I fully support the action.

I don't want to stir up anything, but you're trying to tell me that it's illegal
to change the icon in my own programs? I disagree with all of ya.
I wrote or write the program, therefore I can modify it anyway that I see fit. _________________ Bill Weckel

No - that's why I said usually. The problem wasn't with changing
your own program - it was posting a link to a hacking tool that
allows ya to modify someone else's.

Does changing the icon somehow fit under there?
You can do what ever you want. But VDSWORLD does not go against the
rules. If you'd like to change the icon, go ahead. You can find plenty of
utilities on the internet. But you're not going to find hacking tools on
VDSWORLD.
It's not really worth fighting about. _________________ FreezingFire

I don't think the link was removed because of being able to replace the
icon in your program. I assumed it was removed because the link was
to a cracked version of a program that could replace the icon in your
pogram. But I can't be sure because the link had been removed before
I saw this post.

Garrett,
It's freeware. In the description/helpfile they cleary say: It's a resource editor, and yes you also can change the version description.. or add: like website or mailadres. I respect that that you might treat it as "Hacker tool" but that was not the intention...
The discussion was about icons... this is what i use to resolve that problem. _________________ <-- End of script --> |

| Changing an icon in your own program certainly is not illegal. I'm not sure who removed the link but there must have been a valid reason. Having the name 'resource hacker' as your software/program's name really doesn't help it gain legitimacy either and may have been the reason it was removed. |
